We had the good fortune of connecting with Char Dryce and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Char, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The way I think about risk is scary and freeing at the same time. From ever since I can remember I have always taken risks.

Growing up I was the girl in high school with a unique haircut or even a different fashion sense. As an adult I took a huge risk

in jumping into the world of cosmetology from dentistry , moving from New York to Atlanta during a pandemic and

I’m happy I did.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is creating shapes and beautiful color through hair. What sets me apart from other artists is I’m big on educating my

clients on hair care and the shades in color I can create . When my clients have that “aha moment” seeing the beauty within

themselves and starts falling in love with their hair is when I’m the most proud. Well I started like most in my field from the

bottom working my way up. It was not easy at all there were days when all I wanted to do was quit. But I always kept in the

back of my mind I wanted to make a difference in the industry. I have learned to show up on days even when you don’t want to .

They sometimes end up being your best days. I would like the world to know that I’m here to show women of (color) how to

fall in love with their hair.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my friends come to town I love taking them to places that I have fallen in love with in my new city. One of my first stops

is the Aquarium , I’m a foodie and showing them my favorite restaurants is always a must for eg. my sushi spot, soul food and

also my favorite hiking trail. Just taking a drive through the city Buckhead ,Midtown and walking on the Beltline. That would

be my week of showing my friends the city of Atlanta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my interview to my son ,family and friends who have encouraged me along this journey.
