We had the good fortune of connecting with Chantel Jones Bigby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’ve always been a woman who wears many hats. I am a Wife and Mother first, a Higher Education Administrator, and lately I’ve coined the title as Joypreneur as I founded my most recent joy venture and business Joy Juice Culture. Joy Juice Culture is a holistic wellness e-commerce juicery based in Garland, TX. The thing(s) that set me and my business apart from others is that although I have the best Juice in Dallas lol, Joy Juice Culture is so much bigger than juice and supplemental wellness products. We are a profit-for-purpose business on a mission to restore joy and generational healing to historically underserved communities. Community impact is my compass and metric for success. I’ve gone against the grain from what traditional juicery consultants have advised me to do, particularly around going into high earning communities to quickly scale my business. That wasn’t necessarily what I felt called to do. I’ve gone into communities that have historically been a food desert with little access to diverse avenues to have access to fresh fruit and vegetables through cold-pressed juice. I’ve had people tell me, “it won’t sell” etc. That was so far from the truth. People WANT healthy food options, it’s just not available or accessible. There’s a core element of social activism embedded within Joy Juice Culture. I’m proud of that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Now that I’m on a plant forward life path, I’d have to say hands down, Slutty Vegan ATL!! The food is amazing and the cultural experience in top notch. I look forward to getting back to ATL soon to experience more food, culture and positive energy that the city provides.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to acknowledge my bloodline of now ancestors who were joypreneurs and community leaders. My grandparents Thomas Twymon, Ressie & Lawerence Jones Sr. And my uncle Melvin Jones.
