We had the good fortune of connecting with Chantea Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chantea, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I want to help aspiring authors with the process of self-publishing and give them what I didn’t have when I was becoming a published author. Educating them on what to do and what not to do. Being the learning curve so they don’t waste time.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the owner of Relentless Publishing House, where we help aspiring authors of all ages who write non-fiction to self-publish their books. Unlike many of my competitors, our authors retain 100% of their royalties and we help them develop a marketing plan for their target audience.

I am most proud of two things. First, is the rebranding of our children’s program, Perry’s Jr. Book Club, which launched last year. It is a 5-week summer e-course where we introduce children to becoming an author, teach them how to write a children’s picture book, and help them create a book they can sell to the public. Secondly, hosting my first book fair, Relentless Book Fair, on Saturday, November 5th at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in Columbia, SC. It is a celebration of authors and literary excellence.

I got to where I am by investing in business coaching! I had no idea how to build or run a successful business. I knew this was part of my purpose but was clueless about the execution. Without the business coaching, I would be light years behind where I am now. This stuff is not on Google or YouTube. It was not easy at all. I had to overcome the scarcity mindset, self-doubt, and fear of failing. Surrounding myself with people who had already accomplished the success that I want and allowing myself to be challenged in my areas of deficit was crucial. Always being teachable is a major key!

The lessons I have learned are simple: Keep God first in everything, invest in an expert to help you build, surround yourself with people who know more than you and will challenge you, believe in yourself at all times even when it seems impossible to accomplish, nurture relationships that help you and not hinder you, and take risks because you are worth it.

It’s truly not how you start but how you finish. I had my only child at 15 and many counted us out and said we would never make it. I chose not to believe in all their negativity. I made a lot of mistakes along the way but I also got a lot of stuff right. Don’t allow things from your past to rob your future. Understand and know that “Giving Up Is Never An Option”! When I started believing in myself, things started to change. My daughter has her Masters in Sociology and doing extremely well. Soon she will be pursuing her doctorate. We have the best comeback story! I now have the honor and privilege to help aspiring authors accomplish their dreams of self-publishing. I get to hear the joy in their voices and the pictures on their social media. My company is named Relentless because it is one word that describes my entire life and how we serve our clients. We want to help you Get Your Write On!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely visit Soda City Market Saturday morning. They have amazing businesses to support, good food, fresh produce and a great place to people watch.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m grateful to have people rich in knowledge and experience to push me to my greatness. My first coach Robin Ware and my current coach Ree Williams. These women are the best in their respective industries.
