Meet Chante’ Johnson | Creator of Pieces by C.lauren

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chante’ Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chante’, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was really to make my own creative outlet. When its your business you can make it however you want and I honestly needed something to keep me sane and accountable.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Im most excited about the journey i’m experiencing , I have a long way to go. I got to where I am today by making a plan and sticking to it and knowing when its time to adjust it as well. Things that you want most are never easy, entrepreneurship is hard but its a learning process and comes with a certain type of freedom which makes the journey worth it. The lessons I learned along the way is to not share big ideas with small minds because if you are a people pleaser you will be discouraged , always have confidence in whatever your producing, and lastly if your a perfectionist like me its ok to make mistakes, learn from them and do better next time. 1 thing that I want the world to know about me and my brand is I don’t like labels the moment you place one on anything you deter its potential to be anything else and I’m meant to do alot.!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting for the week, I’d definitely take her to R.Thomas, Slush, Brunch at Barney’s for Breakfast or Brunch. I love reading and have been wanting to try out this books and wine spot called Lucian. Eating is cool but I like to actually do stuff so over her time being here we’d probably go to the The Splatter Room, Botanical Garden, Rage Room, Roof at Ponce etc. Id also take her to the Garden room for lunch they have the cutest scenery and good drinks. Id end our excursions with going to get massages who doesn’t love that.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would dedicate my shoutout to my Grandma she is my biggest supporter and really inspired the name “Pieces”. Since I could remember she’s always been into Timeless Pieces weather it was jewelry, hats, jackets, tops etc. she could seek it out and make it her own. Although my grandma loves her some high fashion she taught me that labels mean nothing and you should never want to look like anyone else. We butt heads alot over clothes when I was younger but thats when I knew I was passionate about expressing myself through my wardrobe.
