We had the good fortune of connecting with Chanise Gibbs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chanise, how does your business help the community?
BareSkin USA uses storytelling through skincare to connect the African Diaspora. Each product is infused with ingredients native to a particular land, which tells a story about our melanated people around the world.

We impact our community by giving the diaspora a sense of identity. We all share a common connection through food, dialect, art, music and culture.

Our skin tells the story of pain, power, and perseverance which enables us to “Reveal Our Naked Truth”.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
BareSkin USA takes you on a journey of self discovery through skincare. Our quality handcrafted plant-based products are uniquely formulated to help promote healthier radiant skin.

What’s sets us apart from other skincare brands is that our products are “So Addictive”. Our customers cannot get enough of our products and the results are amazing.

I have been entrepreneur all my life. At the age of 7 years old I began selling candy in my neighborhood and then dived into fashion, and now beauty industry. Running several business and learning from mistakes has definitely helped me get to where I am today. Although failure is not an option sometimes those challenges makes you stronger.

There are many lessons I have learned along the way. One thing in particular is to outsource what you need in order to be proficient. Often times I try to do a lot of things myself and I quickly learned that’s not effective when operating a business.

I would like the world to know that no matter where you start it all about how you finish. Also never compare yourself to anyone else journey. Your path was laid out specifically for you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So I am a travel addict and through my travel s I find ingredients to infuse into the brand. However, I am always down for a fun experience that’s why I host many throughout Atlanta introducing the products.

Now when my girls come in town I love to give them an experience by hitting the town. We are going to get up in the morning for breakfast at “Toast On Lenox” and check out a few murals around the city. I am going definitely hit the BeltLine and grab a “PLAYA BOWL” , then end the night by grabbing some dinner at “STEAK Market” I love a great dining experience. At night I love to stop by “The Social House” for some live music and drinks.

Now on Sunday we are definitely going to have a self-care day while using BareSkin USA products. Then head out for fitness fun with celebrity trainer Preston Harris. Afterwards I am definitely brunching at “Dancin Crepe Atl” for some great food and vibes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Running a business is not easy and having a support system is crucial in contributing to my success. My shout out goes to my mom Denise Gibbs. Although she lives in another state she is always there to encourage and support me. She even shows up to help out with my children when I am on business trips to help further my brand. She is a woman of grace, honor, and resilience. I truly appreciate all that she does. I could not do this without her.
