We had the good fortune of connecting with Chanel Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chanel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Almost five years ago, I created CheMinistry, a relationship platform because of my inability to sustain healthy relationship with a man. At the time, I’d just turned 41, I was single, never married and I had no children. I had questions about dating, and I’d been celibate for 8 years (for me that meant no dating) and I was starting to date again. I noticed a pattern of what I now call “Dating Discouragement” prior to my 8-year period of celibacy. I would go out on a date, meet someone that I’d really like, we’d talk on the phone and everything would be going well. Then all of a sudden they’d stop calling and I didn’t know why, nothing significant would’ve happened and I wanted to understand the gap in communication. CheMinistry is a relationship platform created to bridge the gap between purpose-driven men and women who desire to progressively move their love life to the next level.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a Visionary. I dabble in the relationship stratosphere. I’m what you call a relationship enthusiast. I love “Love”, I love the idea of being in Love and I want everyone I connect with to experience it. I’m a firm believer that the key component to having a healthy relationship is Communication and so I’ve created CheMinistry, a relationship platform, to bridge the gap between purpose- (in other words intentionality) driven men and women who desire to progressively move their love life to the next level…by understanding that gap. In order to appreciate CheMinistry, you must understand the story behind it, the struggles I faced, and the enormous giants I had to fight through to get myself and the brand (one and the same) to where it is today. You see, CheMinistry is not just another artistic and innovative idea. It’s a philosophy, a state of mind, a collage of experiences that emerged out of my life. It rivets the mind and the senses. CheMinistry is the embodiment of an interwoven process that tells a grand story from MY story to the next relationship platform. A lot of us go through daily struggles. As women, we go through so much on a day-to-day basis, But…some of those struggles, the strain we experience, it’s self-inflicted, we have our own agendas. We want to do it our own way. We’re strong-willed, determined, and even a little hard-headed. Can’t listen, won’t listen to anyone. For me, it was my desire for a HUSBAND. It was 13 years ago, I was 33 years old, single and I’d never been married and I didn’t have any children. “Married” women at my church would tell me, “You have your whole life ahead of you”, “Be patient”, “Wait on God”. But I’ll be honest, I had some entitlement issues and still do today. “God I’m serving you, I’m doing what you’ve called me to do,” I would say, “I want a family too.” It can get lonely sometimes. I had the career, the house, the car, but there was still something missing. And I was so determined that I was going to get it, I was willing to uproot my life and began a journey that would eventually lead me down a path of loss, grief, rejection, unforgiveness, resentment, bitterness and every other adjective associated with one word… “PAIN”. The good news is that we learn some of the most valuable lessons in negative circumstances, in times of stress and strain. See, it’s not about the successes, it’s about the failures. But in the midst of what I would define as “imminent death,” I had the most powerful encounter with Jesus Christ. I came into the revelation of Who God was in my life and Who I was in Him through experiential knowledge. How many of you know the Word gives you CORRECTION and DIRECTION. He intercepted the prognosis with His Word. The pain was indescribable, I can’t lie about that. The experiences I had to go through were unimaginable, but it was all because I went my own way, I did my own thing. It’s amazing to me, how we even as adults, have to go through something dramatic or even traumatic for some of us, to see the err in our ways. But God loves us so much… He made the negative circumstances surrounding my experiences become a part of my developmental process. I discovered PURPOSE.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Atlanta, GA and there are endless opportunities when it comes to having a good time. The Battery at Truist Park also known as the Atlanta Braves Stadium is a great hang out spot! The park has a number of restaurants to choose from and you can even do a little shopping while you’re there. And if it’s baseball season, you can check out an Atlanta Braves game. The tickets are affordable and parking is inexpensive.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Shoutout goes to God. The relationship that I have with Him and His Word is indescribable. It’s like looking in a mirror and then being able to go back and correct those areas in my life that require it for guaranteed results.
