We had the good fortune of connecting with Chandan-Acharya Das and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chandan-Acharya, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
We are most inspired by the opportunity to change peoples live’s here in Atlanta . As a temple and monastery we provide opportunities for spiritual seekers to expand and advance their understanding and practice of spiritual life. The knowledge and practice of this temple takes one out of what is called “Material consciousness ( Bodily Consciousness)” and allows one to enter into “spiritual consciousness ( Krishna Consciousness) “. This material consciousness is the factor behind the anxieties and distress experienced by all people, and simply redirecting that to Krishna Consciousness (our original consciousness) bring us to not only relief, but permanent happiness. Seeing others experience the joy and bliss of Krishna Consciousness provides our team a divine inspiration that doesn’t have an expiration.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We have the opportunity convince people to completely give up Material Aspirations and endeavor only for self realization. This means showing them practically how life is not meant to be lived by working a 9-5 but should be completely spent in trying to understand the self.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would invite them to our Sunday Spiritual Festival and come and spend a week at the Monastery. On Sundays we have meditation, wisdom talks, dancing and a 14 course meal. What could be better than this? Throughout the week they can be with the monks in the monastery and attend all the programs.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to Bhakti Vikasa Swami, our spiritual master. Our success is purely dedicated to him.
