We had the good fortune of connecting with Chan & AK Knight and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chan & AK, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

Going through self depression, depletion, detachment, and divorce, I realized that a detox from negative nouns was needed in order to reach my destiny. As I experienced a 23 day juice cleanse (all juice, no food), I was convinced people across the world would benefit greatly from the concept of detoxing. 6 months to a year later, the journey was embarked upon and Perfect Pear was established in 2016.

Starting in a small facility inside Steel Mill Wellness in Decatur, our growth doubled every year. By year 2018, we acquired a new location inside The Loft Athletic Club and grew our e-commerce business to major heights. We then focused on opening a warehouse a.k.a “The PEARhouse” to mass produce juices, sea moss, etc. from manufacturing to distribution and shipping. Now we ship our product throughout the United States.

While our initial stages were mainly about the significance of the PEAR and it’s nutritional value (its’ alkalinity, high fiber content, low sugar benefits and more), it began to evolve organically. Once my husband severed tithes with Corporate America and became a partner, we were labeled the Perfect Pear (Pair). Now with 2 beautiful little girls they carry the torch of the Perfect Pear (Pair) and the legacy continues.

Over the years, we’ve expanded our product line and offer cold pressed juices, immunity boosters, elderberry tea, acai bowls, smoothies, sea moss and even health subscription plans. Our client base ranges from the healthiest person who wants to lose up to 10lbs in 2 days to the cancer patient who needs to alkalize the body and remove mucus and inflammation. We are fun, knowledgeable with the PEARfect product and our Main driver is to UNPOISON THE CULTURE!

What should our readers know about your business?
Sometimes it’s not the product or the person promoting it, but the possession of energy behind the machine.

We are often told that it’s something about our energy that creates the connection with others.

It was not easy beginning this journey, but we did have a team of supporters who were willing to push us beyond our own expectations. And while we wanted to expedite the process, there was no escaping. We had days where we made $2 and weeks where we made less than $100, months bills didn’t get paid and years of debt, but it was inevitable for growth. Today our blueprint is much more solid. When my husband AK got involved, he focused on the numbers, P&L, COGS, MEASUREMENTS & METRICS and it elevated the company by volumes.
While I am the passionate one, he concentrates his efforts on the Profit, which is another reason we are The Perfect Pear (Pair) 😜

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
1st stop Perfect Pear Juice Bar to prevent and protect the body from the damage of all toxins we will consume like eating and drinking. We would grab a Mr2WeeksOut Smoothie, freshly squeezed StrawPEARy juice and immunity boosters shots, i.e. our sea moss and elderberry shots. We would visit Slutty Vegan, Velvet Taco, Jennis Ice Cream, Trap Museum and Puttshack. We would also visit Dekalb Farmers Market because the fresh produce excites me! I know boring, right???!! I love showing people what real organic food looks like. Lol

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

My husband, AK, is my biggest cheerleader! He often says if you have a woman with a dream, be secure as she sleep walks, you never know where she might lead you. Okay, I might’ve embellished that a little but he’s behind me infinity percent! Lol

AK helped to find the first location as we connected with Rock at SteelMill who basically allowed us to build a name rent free for months. He saw the vision and we created magic for 2 years! Mr2WeeksOut and Mrs2WeeksOut were also pivotal in the next phase of Perfect Pear when we expanded to the Loft Athletic Club. With their community influence and knowledge, they catapulted our brand to a different audience and we’ve been moon walking ever since. We are grateful to all who supported us over the years because while a lot of businesses failed during the pandemic, we grew!

It’s a sincere challenge, but when I think back to that withdrawn young adult who had been raped from all her dreams 6 years ago, I’m encouraged to leap forward and replace those tears with gallons of juice to support others who might be on a self reflecting journey.

And now as a mother of 2 girls watching my Queendom, I have to be meticulous about my movement(s). They are watching and waiting to ask “WHY this and WHY that” lol but it’s also cute as they understand the concept of the business model, family operations and health.
