Meet Chamarcus Bush | Owner of Thusm Clothing

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chamarcus Bush and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chamarcus, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When starting my own business my first thought was ownership. I knew I wanted to have a creative platform that I controlled with no restrictions or limitations. It was also important for me to have a business that I could one day pass down to my children. Keeping these key thoughts in mind; ownership, creativity , and legacy is how I run my business today .

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
The way I express my art is in the form clothing. I first came up with the name in 2010. At the time I didn’t plan on it becoming a clothing brand . It was a form of expression that was used to tell someone to have some business about themselves . Believe it or not , the name originated from the word enthusiasm. In 2012 I decided to create an acronym for the word giving it a new meaning.

The word THUSM now stood for True Hustlers Understand Survival Mode. The brand is more than clothing , it represents a lifestyle. I feel what sets me apart from others is the meaning of the brand itself . The meaning of THUSM can be applied in everyday life.

I would say I’m most proud of how far I have come and how much my brand has grown over the years. Two exciting moments for me was meeting Daymond John the owner of FUBU and getting a shoutout from the rapper Rick Ross .

First and foremost without Yahuah none of this would be possible. Also, Sleepless nights , dedication, consistency, and staying the course has gotten me where I am today. The journey has not been easy it come with a lot of sacrifices . The way I deal with the challenges , is keeping my faith and believing that whatever I’m going through I will get through . Throughout this process I have learned that you get out what you put in .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m from Gainesville Ga but I have a few spots in the city that I like. Onyx and Pin Ups would be at the top of the itinerary lol . I’d get food from Harold’s Chicken & Ice bar . These places are just for starters though. Its so many things to do and places to visit in the city . You really just do your research on where to go

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to family and friends who have been supportive and encouraging since the beginning.
