We had the good fortune of connecting with Chad Elliott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chad, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Many are probably unaware of just how much work it really takes. To run your own business sounds amazing in theory and when you talk about it with others, however, there’s so much behind the scenes work that most will never fully understand. When running a label, of course it’s about the music. But to make sure everyone is all on the same page, we have to have contracts in place, and agreements made. We’re a artist-first label, so we make sure our artists understand everything that we’re doing for them, and outsiders definitely won’t understand the amount of contracts, licenses, and agreements that we [2EIO Sounds] maintain and acquire to ensure our artists continue to have a platform to showcase their music.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
People typically associate record labels with large conglomerates that are money hungry and profit off the majority of their artist’s share. That’s not us at all. We started this label to put our independent artists first, giving them the highest percentage possible on their work. We are an independent label for independent artists. Along the way, we’ve learned the meaning of hard work and dedication. We strongly back each one of our artists and work to make sure they have the platform they need to do what they love.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sure, one of my favorite places in the city is the Painted Duck. Not a lot of people know about it so gimme my credit for putting you on lol
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Thank you Google. No, seriously – I don’t know how much time I’ve spent researching, cross-referencing, and looking at various examples, articles, and partners in order to bring this dream to life. I most definitely wouldn’t be able to do this without my co-founder AJ Farley either.
