We had the good fortune of connecting with Ceminthia Graham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ceminthia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In short, I wanted to help women heal. I am not a novice to the healing process as I had to overcome childhood trauma. I believe this gives me a unique insight to the barriers and difficulties associated with healing from trauma. As a licensed clinical social worker my reach was limited to the women within my state who sought therapy. With UprootsHer, I am able to help women heal across the world. It is my desire for women to heal from childhood trauma and begin living the life of their dreams. A life they deserve. Also coaching allows me to serve women who would traditionally shy away from traditional therapy due to the stigma associated with mental health.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am beyond excited about my newest campaign Healed: the New Sexy. I really feel strongly that it will become a movement. I have had the opportunity to work with women who have experienced trauma whether through childhood trauma, female combat veterans and serve those that experienced military sexual trauma. Healed: the New Sexy is not about our aesthetics but our internal wellbeing. It is so important that we are seen for who we are internally. Our heart and soul are the most precious and important aspects of our being. Those who I have assisted in their healing have engaged in what I like to describe as mascara therapy. Beautiful on the outside but broken on the inside. The women I serve are successful but struggling internally with the pain of the past. The pain keeps them in bondage from living the life they desire and deserve. It’s one thing to be successful in your career and another to be successful holistically. I know what it feels like to have what it seems a perfect career but struggle internally with pain that cannot be described. There is a liberation that comes with healing and I desire every woman I come into contact with to experience that.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many that have assisted me on this journey of becoming who I am. I have to thank my parents first and foremost. Without them I would not have life. I have to thank Ginger Volkman my second grade teacher who nurtured me and supported by brilliance. My pastor Jon-Micheal McKinney who is a spiritual superman and guiding light. Charlotte Baker who has been a sounding board and encourages me to give it all I got. Most importantly my boy wonder Gabriel who keeps me on my toes and is my motivation.
