We had the good fortune of connecting with Celines Estevez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Celines, what role has risk played in your life or career?
A lot of sacrifice is involved in being an actor, so taking risks is a must. It’s important for me to play roles that I’m proud of and who could act as a role model to other girls. Women are so much more than those one-dimensional stereotypes, and as much as I love romance movies, I’d much rather play a complex kickass character than a girl who just falls in love. There’s so much more to us, and the projects I accept will portray women in a powerful light. So taking the risk of following what’s important to me plays a more significant role outside of just my career, but for all women and future generations to come.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I don’t think anyone can say being an actor is at all easy, but it definitely is rewarding and incredibly fun. It’s an emotional, passionate, and crazy career but as Viola Davis said, being an artist is the only profession that celebrates life.

I did a shoot in Mexico and worked with a cast and crew that came from all parts of the world. But despite the completely different backgrounds and language barriers, everyone shared the same excitement and passion for the project.

That’s where I learned that art has the power to unite humanity- both working in productions and as an audience member. When my abuela came to watch me in a staged play, she enjoyed every minute of it without understanding a word of English. That’s because art has no language barrier.

It amazes me how our craft has the power to connect and share experiences with the rest of the world. The impact I hope my work makes is to teach, heal and inspire.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have my amazing characters to thank for introducing me to the diverse city of Atlanta. The first time I went there for work, I strolled around Piedmont Park which was so beautiful and peaceful! I love the scenery and the wide open space. It’s a great spot to enjoy some coffee, walk, and have good company.

You can’t visit Atlanta without the famous chicken and waffles at Atlanta’s Breakfast Club. It’s an absolute must. And it’s not only about the food, it’s the energetic vibes. Every time I enjoyed brunch at Atlanta’s Breakfast Club, I made unforgettable memories connecting with the locals and the staff.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents came from Puerto Rico to New York where they earned their degrees to give my brother and me the best life possible. From a young age, they taught me that kindness is the way of life. Treating others with respect, compassion, and understanding has been one of the most valuable lessons my parents gifted me.

In the entertainment industry, we meet new people from around the world on every project. So making an effort to say good morning and remembering people’s names can make a huge impact on people’s lives. I always strive to make others feel listened to and valued and I have my parents to thank for that.
