We had the good fortune of connecting with Cedrick Chealey Sr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cedrick, what’s your definition for success?
Hmmmm. I think success is a misplaced word in the minds of a lot of people. I say that because anyone who wants better for themselves and puts forth their best efforts whether they win, lose, or break even…. Is a success. Starting the journey and overcoming your own insecurities and fears while chasing your dreams makes you a successful person. Success for me, hasn’t been defined by riches, assets, or material things. It has been me having the freedom of growing and believing outside of traditional life’s teachings. Fear is the last hurdle one has to jump before the dreams manifest.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I suffered a stroke in 2020 and had bought my own 18 wheeler. Shortly after the stroke, I had to have an emergency back surgery because one of my vertebrae was splicing into a nerve. After my short term disability had come to an end in July of 2021, I jumped into the property preservation field full time. I have always been good with my hands so it was a natural fit since I couldn’t drive truck anymore. I will tell anyone that being an entrepreneur isn’t for the faint and some of the challenges I faced were working for companies that only cared about their bottom line. So, I started thinking outside of the box and doing my due diligence in hopes of finding the secrets of the big companies. Knowledge is the key to overcoming the challenge and when I educated myself on how the big property preservation companies did it, I expanded on their knowledge and expertise. Chealey Solutions LLC has become a viable part of this field by tweeking our business model to add dump trailer rentals, pressure washing, landscaping, and government contracts. We are also persuing our GA home builders license in hopes of yet expanding again. We have taken a 2 year business to a revenue of around $275,000 a year and we are still growing as well as adding on new services. It has taken a lot of hard work and sleepless nights but, it has been totally worth it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot in the city has to be the downtown location of the “Original Hotdog Factory” in Atlanta. I took my wife on an impromptu date and we sat outside as we ate. Maybe it was just that I was with the love of my entire life but the ambience was delightful and anytime I can see my wife smile, that place becomes one of my favorites. My other fav is Fox’s Jamaican Restaurant because they have the best food in the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Actually there are a few people I would love to shout out. First and foremost, the most beautiful black woman I have ever encountered in this lifetime, Tawana Chealey (My Wife and best friend). Secondly, my Dad, Charles Chealey Sr because of his strong faith, prayers, wisdom, and love for both my wife and I has been invaluable. I can only hope that I can be as great of a man to everyone I encounter.
