We had the good fortune of connecting with Cayla Bean and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cayla, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is staying true to myself which in turn forces me to stay true to my brand. RoZen is in the process of creating its own lane for women of all shades that is affordable, yet, made with quality and love. I believe that being authentic and organic will be the single most important thing to further propel my brand.

What should our readers know about your business?
One main thing that sets RoZen Shoes apart from other boutiques is that we are a “traditional boutique”. Our model is built on providing fashion-forward styles but only in limited quantities. However, by the end of 2021, there will be 4-6 different shades of nude for our women with melanin skin that will restock once a year. We plan to add a wider range of shades by year 2022. This collection will cater to black and brown women who deserve to have a nude pump or heel that matches their skin tone, yet, at a reasonable price. I am happy that I am in the position to be able to bring this vision forth and bring awareness through my passion for fashion. This journey is not easy by far, but I know the reward is much sweeter. Knowing that I’ve done something to cater to women who often feel forgotten, is more than any amount of money.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In a city full of busy streets, oddly enough, I’m a home-body. However, I live for a good brunch or dinner spot. Each day brunch could be at Poor Calvin’s, South City Kitchen, The Hive Buckhead, Fin & Feathers, or The Nook on Piedmont. I would have to take them to the black-owned coffee cafe, Jacob’s Java, too! On either Sunday or Wednesday we would stop by Cirque Bar and Grill for crab legs and daiquiris. Piedmont Park is always a good place for fresh air, scenery and people watching. The Busy Bee Cafe, Mary Mac’s, Cuts Steakhouse or The Consulate are good dinner spots to hit throughout the week. Atlanta has so much to offer, there would never be a dull day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, there are a few people who have contributed to the development and growth of my entrepreneurial journey. I believe that you can receive a lesson or message from any encounter, be it positive or negative. However, there are two people, including God, who have been there from the beginning. Cheering me on through the highs and holding my hand throughout the lows has been my mom, Zena and my fiancé, Xavier. Actually, my mom is behind the name of my company. Every detail, deal, contract and IG post is proofed by her for her “non-expert” opinion. My fiancé has taught me to fight for what I know is owed to me and to be cautious, yet, take risk as if I already know the outcome. These two have done more for my success than I give them credit for and a great deal more than I can put into words.
