We had the good fortune of connecting with Catherine Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Catherine, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When I used to think of taking risk; it always started with a playback in my mind of every scenario that could happen if the outcome wasn’t what I intended. However, I still persevered through all the what-ifs because if I hadn’t…the “should I take a risk” would have turned into “now there’s a regret”. As a spiritual being I stay steadfast within my faith, so as i’ve grown, the idea of fear isn’t something I ever try to claim to be instilled with. By making this a habit for myself, i’ve been able to lead with love and continuously move through experiences that may make me afraid at first. I feel that taking risk overall in my life is what has made it that much more transformative.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a multidisciplinary creative, who has specialized in performing and media art disciplines over the last 20 years. Some of my main disciplines include singer/songwriting, fashion designing, creative direction, and musical theater. I feel all creatives are unique, but what makes me different is my approach in challenging the conventional norms of vulnerability through innovative. I’ve learned overtime that I truly have a deep joy for curation, because what still excites me after all this time is the ability to create a prolific vision from just one single thought. When you adore what it is you were blessed with the opportunity to do and you walk in it purposefully; no matter the obstacles it’s still all gratitude for me to wake up in this journey. I want the world to know that the “Catherine Clark” brand is an evolution of an ethereal woman who knows what it’s like to be afraid of the unknown, but wants to guide you through the healing anyway with her lyricism and storytelling.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This one is comical because i’m such a person that creates a powerpoint itinerary for the vacay! However, if they’re coming to my city we’re going to be super chill and well fed. On Monday, hopefully it’s an evening arrival, so we’d just be at my sanctuary (my home), i’d put on some vinyl record; and make some dumplings from scratch. We’d eat dinner with a series only we’re bingeing because we’re going to have a yap session about it. Tuesday, i’d make breakfast bowls, we’d go to The High Museum and take pictures because we too look like the art. That evening would end with us going maybe to a lounge for tacos and two-steps, because of course we’re about to get down on the dance floor! I don’t have a specific location because we all know that the best specials get the most service. Wednesday seems like a day you throw something on the grill, so Q’s Meat Market in East Point would be the stop in order to have a quality feast. To kick off the end of the day we’re hitting up the Goodwill on Old National , because they always have the best deals Mon/Wed/Fri (you’re welcomeee)!
Being that i’m still a hermit, Thursday is when I create my content schedule and edit my videos, so i’m going to chef it up for my bestie this day. Friday is for girlala activities in the city, and our 1st stop is going to be Little Five Points for some spontaneous shenanigans. For lunch we’re headed to Fin & Feathers on Edgewood for a day party/mimosas, going back home to prepare for quite a high energy night, and heading out around 9pm to an invite only house party. Saturday, I’m sure i’m stumped by this point from socializing, but we have to walk Auburn Avenue to catch up more intimately about life. This night would be a bit more classy, so Negril’s for wine and dine. Sundays we rest and rejuvenate with a home cooked brunch and see you soons’.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The one thing I can appreciate the most is how blessed I was to be able to have a mommy that did nurture my gifts. I think if it hadn’t been for her raising me to know it was okay that I wanted to be everything, I wouldn’t be as innovative unapologetically. Now i’m able to curate with so many disciplines that I had the opportunity to explore. She instilled in me words of confidence for me to know that regardless of what I choose to do, success is inevitable if the intentions are always genuine. I appreciate and love her deeply for that.
