Meet Casundra York | Traveling Photographer/Traveling Agent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Casundra York and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Casundra, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
During the pandemic I became depressed with my career job. I wanted more for myself and my family. I am a single woman with no kids except my nieces and nephews which makes me a “momtee” that desires the world and I had to give it to myself for my own sanity. I connected with some powerful praying individuals and I connected with people that were not like me to better myself. I had a spiritual friend that believed in me and bought me a camera because photography is my passion. I love being in front and behind the camera. During my childhood I was all around active from band, cheerleading, pageants, basketball, softball, choir you name it. I often held leadership roles which made me a competitive entity. One thing that stuck with me was being a glamor girl in front and behind the camera. I had some education on broadcasting and I loved working the cameras. Three months into my business I decided to connect my company Major Look Photography with my role as a traveling agent and make my services available nationally. I connected with my spiritual friend who started his own Fast Ford Management business and since then we have successfully been booked and busy. It is so satisfying to finally be on the path that I was chosen for as I give birth to my first born baby which is my business Major Look Photography I want to encourage others that its only takes faith dedication consistency and hard work to be successful in life.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I worked in the banking industry for 2 years for a company that I desired to be apart of since I was 18 years old. Having the job of my dreams no longer brought me joy because I experienced some tragic events during employment from a failed relationship which was not the first however I felt stuck like I was holding on to the idea of having good benefits. I lost interest in things that I normally loved and I became very depressed. I went to a psychiatrist to sort out my thoughts and give myself that push which I was lacking. In that season I connected with a friend that believed in me more that I did myself. I had to activate my faith and accept the camera he purchased me. I knew I had some praying people in the delivery room pushing me to give birth to my vision. I am great at communication, advertising, and my energy is always above average. I knew I had what it takes I just had to get into tunnel vision putting God first, accept being alone, pray, meditate, and go hard.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Chicago the food is awesome. I would take my friend to get some Chicago style food, go to the Pixel Room and take pictures, take a ride on the tour bus while having drinks, then walk the busiest strip and that night we will dance on the beach and sing songs once we are done we will pray and write on a piece of paper then throw it into the ocean! What a release!!!!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout Christopher Ford my manager the man with the plan. He purchased my camera and first set of business cards booked my first event and did not ask for one penny in return. He has been so supported and a praying friend in my time of need.
