We had the good fortune of connecting with Casey Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Casey, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
I have many favorite quotes & affirmations, as I believe they can be so powerful! My most favorite is “You Got This”. It started as my mantra when I was training for my one and only marathon, but it has grown to mean so much more to me. Times get tough. Work gets hard. Sometimes we get frustrated and want to quit. “You Got This” is an affirmation I use for myself & for my clients to help us through the challenges that we will inevitably face. I remind my clients all the time that they can do hard things & when I face challenges in my personal life or in my business I remind myself- You Got This. It helps me keep moving forward. Even when the pace is slow & everything feels hard I am reminded that I am capable- I just have to keep pushing.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Inspire Health & Wellness started nearly 4 years ago with a simple idea. The goal was to help individuals get to a better place physically while making changes to their nutrition & fitness.
Over the past 4 years, the business has continued to evolve, yet the goal remains the same.
What started as in person nutrition coaching with local individuals, has now become an entirely virtual practice reaching women all over the world. Nutrition coaching is offered in a virtual group setting & while many use the program to support their weight loss efforts, the focus really is in helping women learn to FUEL their body.
While I do enjoy the nutrition coaching aspect, fitness is my passion & this is now where the majority of my work time is spent. In addition to the virtual nutrition coaching, I run a virtual fitness program, Inspire Fitness, that offers guided workouts, a weekly schedule & an incredible virtual community that provides support & accountability for women to reach their fitness goals.
The Inspire Fitness program is 100% virtual and has continued to evolve & grow since its early stages. Currently, over 350 members from all over the country (and throughout the world) join me for workouts from the comfort of their own home. Despite working out “alone” they feel connected to me & to other women who have similar goals & barriers through this virtual community. So many have found success – with consistency & effort, and pushing themselves further than they ever would have on their own.
What sets you apart from others?
I’m a real person! I’m a mom, wife & I know what it’s like to try to balance all of the responsibilities of the day to day. As a Registered Dietitian & Certified Personal Trainer, I truly care about my clients. My expectations are built on sustainable & realistic approaches. My program isn’t a “quick fix” or a trendy plan. It is built on consistency & fundamental behavior change.
What have I learned along the way- I have learned that you don’t know it all from the get go. You don’t even know what you don’t know until you start. There is so much to be learned from books, YouTube videos and from mentors who have done what you want to do long before you. LEARN from them. Invest in yourself. WORK HARD. Follow your passion & you will figure out a way. When you want to succeed so badly you will do what it takes to make it happen. You will figure it out & often messy action is better than no action at all. Just get started!
What do I want the world to know- Ladies- You CAN get to a better place. You CAN have more energy & gain confidence. You don’t have to feel frustrated with your body any longer, and you don’t have to spend hours a day at the gym making it happen, either. It doesn’t happen overnight, but it can happen when you make the decision to try.
I also want the world to know that I truly love helping women become better versions of themselves. My success lies in theirs. I want to see them succeed. The success of my clients brings more value to my life than any amount of money I make in this business. It is what drives me to continually make improvements to my program.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Does the relate to my local community?
I am from a rural community in Northern Michigan. I am fortune to have grown up in Gladstone, Michigan, surrounded by the freshwater of Lake Michigan. My local community is beautiful & has a lot to offer for outdoor enthusiasts. I would spend time at our local beach & take my friend hiking or biking on local trails. We would definitely take a day trip to Marquette & hike Sugarloaf Mountain & visit the Blackrocks in Presque Isle Park.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband has always been supportive of whatever I have wanted to do in life. He is the quiet, behind the scenes type of person, but has always given me his blessing in this work. He could have easily told me I was crazy when I had the idea to start this business, but instead he told me to go for it. When I really wanted to quit my day job & pursue the business full time he was hesitant, but helped me set tangible goals & develop an exit strategy that proved to be very successful!
My bff- Katie has been my sounding board and biggest cheerleader from the get-go in my business. In the early days as I was trying so hard to gain traction, she believed in me and truly wanted to see me succeed. She heard the complaints, frustrations, countless ideas that I needed to talk through and has always shared in my excitement in all the major successes I have accomplished.
