We had the good fortune of connecting with Casby Bias and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Casby, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
As an undergrad, I attended Marquette University. Around my sophomore year in school, I was trying to find a way to express myself creatively on campus.
I attempted to have my own comic strips published on campus, but unfortunately, the newspaper and magazine at my school didn’t allow them at the time.
Hearing about what I was trying to do, the media lab manager at the communications school provided me with animation software instead.
I used the animated software to make videos that helped tell stories of students on campus. Fast forward to now, and I develop animations for local businesses in Atlanta, as well as independent animated web series.
I’ve also ventured into developing podcasts starting back in 2016. I officially got into podcasting in 2020. I was again trying to express self, and my younger brother was graduating with his MBA at the time. I wanted to find a way to help him with his transition from college into the “real world”: I thought developing a podcast filled with advice would be the way to go.
As a result, I created the podcast series “Adulting 101 with Casby Bias” to help young professionals survive adulthood and life after college. I also create animated video companions for each episode.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
See Bias Productions LLC is an animated shorts production company. Its mission is to provide a platform for diverse voices and stories to be amplified through creative media.
SBP not only creates animated shorts for clients, but animated/visual companions for podcasts.
I am most proud of the work I’ve done with the Children’s Museum of Atlanta so far (animation-wise) and Adulting 101 with Casby Bias (podcast-wise).
Some challenges I’ve faced first starting out had been figuring out how my work could help others, and how to get the word out about my business. Over time, I was able to strategize accordingly. I am very proud of my company’s growth since I’ve first started my business!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
– Lenox Square shopping mall – Park Tavern Atlanta
– Sparkles Family Fun Center of Smyrna
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shoutout to the media lab manager at the university I went to as an undergrad, Carole. She was the one who listened to me and what I was trying to do. She was also the one who came up to me and offered my first animation software from the beginning. I wouldn’t even have been in animation without her support!
