We had the good fortune of connecting with Carson Traynham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carson, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
One of the most important lessons I have learned in business is this… “Make friends, not enemies.”

It’s such a simple and powerful statement, and it’s something I carry with me every day- in business and in life. I think there are many entrepreneurs who lose sight of this simple fact just to make a sale. But it’s not just about making a sale. It’s about making a friend. It’s about building a community of like-minded people and making other’s lives better. Every interaction we have is an opportunity to solve a problem, build a positive relationship, an opportunity to build someone up and help them improve. Don’t pass them up. I think people would be surprised at the impact we can have on a person when we give them our time, attention, & genuine care. The people who win in life are those that help the most people.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The initial reason I fell in love with Airbrush Tanning is because I didn’t feel beautiful in my natural skin. I had always been the ghostly white girl who could never tan, so when I received my first spray tan, I was in shock. Did other girls know how perfect it made you feel? When I was finally hired at the salon, the joy I felt from helping other women feel the way I did was unparalleled. I pride myself on my attention to detail and going above & beyond to satisfy my clients expectations, because I can relate to exactly what they’re searching for. But spray tanning comes with its own sets of challenges, like disregarding the myth that you will be orange, helping naked women feel comfortable in front of a stranger, marketing, networking, order product, respond to calls/emails, the list is never ending for an entrepreneur. But it’s your perspective that will drive you to get these things done. Working every day is hard. Struggling to pay bills every day is hard too. Which hard do you want for yourself?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
