We had the good fortune of connecting with Carrie Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carrie, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Intown Salt Room came from a personal need of finding a spa-like place in Atlanta that could allow me to unplug from whatever was going on and mentally recharge without a big time commitment.  I enjoyed visiting salt rooms for the calming energy and respiratory benefits and I wanted to incorporate more meditation into my wellness routine but felt challenged with the idea of sitting in silence. I saw an opportunity to create a space in Metro Atlanta that offered both dry salt therapy and meditation with sound therapy experiences, not only for myself to enjoy but for people of all ages to benefit from. Intown Salt Room is also the first stand-alone salt room in the city to offer wellness experiences with private seating that require little to no therapist contact.

What should our readers know about your business?
Intown Salt Room offers two unique salt room experiences, Dry Salt Therapy also known as Halotherapy and Meditation with Sound Therapy. Both experiences are relaxing and help with stress relief. If you are not sure which one is right for you, I recommend trying Dry Salt Therapy (this sensory experience with the dry salty air in the room and ocean wave sounds make you feel like you’ve escaped to the beach).

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is so much to do and see in Atlanta! Ria’s Bluebird or Thumbs Up Diner is a must for breakfast or brunch in Grant Park. Walking on the Beltline is always a picture worthy experience- the sights, the food, the people! Shopping and having dinner at one of the restaurants at Ponce City Market is a nice way to end the day, especially if you go to THE ROOF at Ponce City Market to take in the view.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The support and encouragement I get from my 10 year old daughters is priceless, they are always giving me advice which I cherish!  I also want to give a shoutout to Tia Robinson, a well-being coach and meditation instructor, who I first met four years ago when researching meditation for my business.  Because we both have similar career backgrounds and the same entrepreneurial drive, Tia is my go-to for brainstorming. Tia helps me create unique meditation experiences that differentiate my business and brand and allow us to give Atlantans a unique wellness experience they can’t find anywhere else in the city.
