Meet Carolyn F | Motorcycle YouTuber

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carolyn F and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carolyn, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
When people ask me what I do, and I say, “YouTuber” I know the assumptions that come with that – “you just record videos, have fun, and are there because you’re lucky.” That could NOT be further from the truth. Which is exactly why, for four years, this was just a hobby. I was hoping for a lucky break. It wasn’t until I learned from those who have created successful businesses on the platform, learned the longterm and ever changing strategy, that my hobby turned into a business. Because of a consistent, smart strategy. Not a viral video here and there.
The fun part – riding around on motorcycles to make videos, that is only about 1/6 of my time. The rest is all behind the scenes – market research, seeing what’s trending on the platform right now, sales, management among the many contractors needed behind the scenes, negotiating and interpersonal skills with other creators or brands in the industry. I’ve definitely gotten the snide comment from ignorant family members that this “isn’t a real job” when in reality, it’s the most challenging job I’ve ever had. It just happens to be really fun too.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create videos on YouTube about motorcycles. For four years it was just a hobby, in terms of income. Although I took it very seriously, and was very consistent. I watched YouTube videos so figured I could guess based off what I saw and just be successful. This is completely wrong.
For those years of little to no traction, I couldn’t stop. I just had to keep going. I didn’t tell friends or family I was working on it. I just lumped it into “freelance” work and if I gave myself a YouTube deadline with no one to keep me accountable but myself, I took it very seriously. I would tell friends I couldn’t hang out that weekend, that I had “freelance” to do. Deep down I knew it would be worth it. The only other time I felt that strongly about something without evidence, was when I first started dating my now husband. Your instincts can be a very powerful thing. People have just learned to silence their desires, and instincts, and drinking or drugging them away instead of pursuing them with everything they’ve got. Thankfully I discovered Derral Eves and his YouTube strategy so I don’t need to be at the whim of luck or trends. I can have much more predictable success, enough that I could replace my office salary and quit the 9-5
For me, the motivation isn’t motorcycles. It’s freedom, financial independence, and enjoying my work. I just couldn’t do that in an office, as hard as I tried. That’s why my husband and I invested so heavily in real estate that we were able to replace my office salary in passive income within a year. That’s why I worked hard to learn how to create a sustainable business off of YouTube. The freedom and independence is the biggest driving factor for me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Assuming this is a riding friend, I would take her (or him) to Pop’s Coffee, one of my favorite places in Georgia. It’s a coffee shop combined with a motorcycle dealership next door, Triumph Roswell. The food and drinks are delicious (I love their matcha) and so are the people, and of course, motorcycles are all over the shop. We’d then ride up in the North Georgia mountains around Suches, probably my favorite roads to ride. We’d ride all day until our bodies hurt, and spend the rest of the next day recovering in a Yoga class and a spa. (Well damn, I want to go do this now!)

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Derral Eves, 100%. I’ve paid for, listened to, and watched just about every YouTube guru out there. It’s insane to me how many “YT guru’s” have a large following and have never had their own largely successful YouTube channel. Derral is the only guru I know that has done this many times over. Nobody teaches YouTube the way Derral does. I truly believe that just about anyone will succeed if they learn and apply his strategy.
