We had the good fortune of connecting with Carolyn “Cece” Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carolyn “Cece”, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
This business was inspired by my lifestyle. As I was attending South University back in 2014 in my nutrition class I began to make hair products for myself and family. Shortly, thereafter my family began to share their results and my husband began to tell me to, “bottle up that hair crack” and in 2017 that is exactly what we did and The Natural Way 365 product line was born. But, since I was a young child that entrepreneurial seed was planted in me. As I watched my parents and grandmothers matriculate through life as entrepreneurs and professionals I was truly inspired.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My products are hand crafted with an end result in mind, each one of my products was created with specific intentions. When I created my very first product my hair was in bad shape, thin, dry, brittle, shedding and damaged my hair care routine using my products Grow Me Butter, Powerful Potion Serum, and Revitalizing Hair Moisturizer not only repaired my hair but began to repair my life. I soon then began to be concerned with what I was putting on my body. So, I created Body Butter Bliss and each one of my products has a story to go with it rather it’s from my own personal experience or an experience that I have had with a client. As I dive deeper in my craft I begin to become concerned about what goes into my body so I begin to grow food and after growing food for my family for a few years I decided to apply for my farm and track number which will allow me to expand my business and grow our ingredients as well as provide a source for sustainable living. So, I’m also a dog breeder and last year we launched our first petcare product and it is an oatmeal cbd infused dog shampoo and more than half of the ingredients were grown and harvested from our farm so we were completely ecstatic about that. We are looking forward to upscaling the farm, growing more of our own ingredients and sharing while teaching the community as well. Being an entrepreneur is not easy but if you stay consistent and never stop moving you will see your goals, wants, and desires unfold in front of your eyes. I begin to overcome my challenges by creating this tunnel vision around my brand and taking my time to develop every aspect of it like putting a puzzle together creating a masterpiece and that masterpiece is my brand, my farm and everything in between and there is a lot in between that makes me this amazing being.
Along the way I’ve published two books available on Amazon and I learned people will be people and what’s for you will be for you. I realized I don’t have to go through life focusing on people’s reactions and just put my focus into building and marketing the brand and not waiting for a reaction to validate my success. My success is measured on what I do and how I do it.
I would like to let the world know that The Natural Way 365 LLC brand is here to provide you amazing customer service, organic quality ingredients for products and produce globally for everyone to enjoy.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So, let’s just say my best friend arrives at 6am on a Sunday the last week of the month; we would go back to my place and I would cook breakfast. I do enjoy cooking. After that we would attend a free garden workshop that I host every 2nd and 4th Sunday from 10am – noon. Next, we would go to Creative Corner for a 1pm yoga session. I absolutely love to do yoga and aerial yoga as well. When we are finished with yoga we’ll be hungry again and lunch will be at Sun in My Belly and we would end the night by cranking up the fire pit roasting marshmallow making smores enjoying the fire ambiance and each other’s company. Monday will be chill and relaxing. Tuesday I would have to take her to The Poetry Circle to enjoy the good vibes at The Delowe Loft. Wednesday would be game night and Thursday I would have a spa day at Sahara Health and Spa. Friday we would go wherever the road takes us and Saturday we would definitely be attending an ArtnSpark event hosted by Hits 92.3 own All Hustle No Fear Hood Unicorn. That would be a great finale to our week. I’m sure thrifting, hiking, and going to the metaphysical store would be included somewhere in there.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This shoutout is dedicated to all the different individuals who have been a part of the process of making me who I am now. First, there is my husband who pushes me and always gives me the motivation I need by supporting all of my endeavors every step of the way along with my children. Then, there is Joe Martin and Associates, Big Brother Foundation, Simplicity Make Millions has had a major impact on how I run the back in of my business anything from marketing to business credit and everything in between Joe and his team has either gave me advice, showed my how to do something or even went as far as doing things for me as well. Next, there is my business partner Erin, over the past few years there are just a number of tasks that wouldn’t have gotten completed without her assistance. Also, there is Holmles who aided in cultivating the farmer in me and taught me so many skills that I will be forever grateful for. I could go into great detail about all the different mentors and people who had an impact on my brand but that may take up the entire magazine. But, I am truly thankful and grateful for everyone one that has crossed my path or will cross my path, “ my network is my net worth”.
