Meet Caroline Redd

We had the good fortune of connecting with Caroline Redd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Caroline, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
To me, success is defined by trust. I feel honored when clients feel they can trust my company whole-heartedly with their pets. Watching their pets greet us at the door and beginning to trust my team always brings a smile to my face. Building this community in Atlanta with both clients and pet sitters, that share a mutual understanding of the type of pet care that their furry family members should receive is something I will always be proud of.

What should our readers know about your business?
I created my company The Big Redd Dog, because my love of animals was always at the forefront of my world. I was already pet sitting for friends and family and thought it would be fun to create a brand that represented my passion. Now I pride myself on having a business that provides personalized, home-based care for clients across the metro Atlanta area. Once my company began to grow, I quickly realized I needed to hire help. Even though it was challenging for me to trust new people with my clients, I am so proud of the team and community I have built. We each specialize in varying dog behaviors, such as leash reactivity, stranger danger, resource guarding and others, which positions us to offer a unique type of specialized care that pet owners really need. There were some growing pains in deciding the types of clients and pet sitters I wanted to accept, but I learned to trust my instincts, never lower my standard of care, and value quality over quantity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You can usually catch me with a dog by my side so I am always looking for dog friendly spaces to enjoy. I would start my day by grabbing a coffee at Star Provisions Coffee Shop then hitting one of the many farmer’s markets throughout the city. I would grab lunch at Lee and White, followed by a hike at Cascade Nature Preserve. Once it’s time to leave the dogs at home I would check out an event at Peters Street Station. Honorable mentions: brunch at Eat My Biscuits, drinks at Mary’s, and dinner at Oreatha’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my family who were my first clients and biggest supporters, and Lifeline Animal Project. Fostering through Lifeline has taught me so much about empathy and dog behavior, and it has made me a better pet sitter and a better person. I also want to shout out my best friend, Allyson, and my partner, Naomi, who have both encouraged me in growing my business and believing in myself.
