We had the good fortune of connecting with Carolina De La Hoz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carolina, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Thank you for having me and allowing me to talk about my passion. I believe the most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is perseverance. In the Holy Bible God tells us to be strong and courageous; this means “KEEP GOING!!!” “KEEP PUSHING!” “HAVE CONFIDENCE!!” a lesson I feel everyone needs to learn at some point in their life. I’ve had many complications and slow seasons where one has to question where does one go? But the answer is always the same; Keep. Moving. Forward. If it wasn’t for the courage of God to continue on, I wouldn’t have success, I wouldn’t have my business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Sure thing! I’ve always been a creative.

I founded Carolina’s Canvas years ago during covid in an effort to bring people happiness with my skills. It is a photography and art business specializing in Headshots, Personal Branding, Portraits, Murals, and curated painting experiences — all designed to make people feel seen, confident, and celebrated.

This was a big step for me; going from tough criminal justice background and being a criminal investigator was night and day in comparison to creating pretty things. Health complications, corruption in the workplace, finances. I eventually left it all for my craft; what I love.

What sets me apart is the personal touch I bring to each session. Your experience begins the moment you find me. I’m a quirky person. My Clients love my approach in getting them comfortable along with my attention to detail. I offer both in studio and on-location convenience, serving polished results that elevate both their brands and their memories. My goal isn’t just to deliver stunning, high-quality images; it’s to capture your essence and help you show up with confidence. Time and time again; you wont just be the photo, you’ll feel the photo.

For me my work has a purpose beyond the picture: it builds trust, strengthens your image, and creates keepsakes you’ll cherish for a lifetime.

I work with all kinds of clients! Humans and animals alike. I help large corporations and small businesses elevate their team’s professional presence with custom headshots, to supporting NFL players in launching their personal brands, capturing an actor’s next big role, painting murals for Atlanta’s top restaurants, or designing unforgettable Sip and Paint experiences for communities. I bring the same level of care and professionalism to every project. I’m currently serving clients from Atlanta Metro, Cobb County, Georgia and beyond! Best part is; I travel! Wherever your story takes me, I’ll be there!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I won’t bore you with an entire week long itinerary, but I will list my favorite places. Go-to places are the typical tourist spots like the Zoo and the Aquarium. The Georgia Aquarium sets itself aside as the best most amazing here in the US. They have whale sharks, dolphins, and otters. What more can you ask for? Now for food, Oh I love food, it’s hard to visit them all! If someone were to visit me we would have to go to get the BEST hand-made ramen in Atlanta. Hajime Ramen Bar located in Buckhead. Old South BBQ in Smyrna has got the BEST BBQ you’ve ever had. It’s family ran and its got none of that processed mass produced garbage. We would also visit Joey D’s Oak room; they have phenomenal steaks and these honey butter croissants you would die for. Ray’s on the River has amazing fish, mac and cheese and mushrooms. And one more so I don’t take too much of your time or money the Marietta Diner! If you haven’t been, you should go open 24/7 !

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to firstly my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my parents, and grandparents for raising me into the woman I am today. My family, without them I wouldn’t know what perseverance or courage was. I would also like to give a shout out to my Uncle Eddy De La Hoz for writing the story of my family in the book “Alas de monarca: aventuras de un inmigrante”.
