We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlisle Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carlisle, what do you attribute your success to?
Making clients have an experience. Even at ground level at LCY Media, people could see the vision. So when it was completely finished, people were breathless walking through that door. They finally have a place to feel creative.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We all have dreams and see us reaching them without knowing exactly how. I began making music around 16 in a few bands, but after high school, I fell into hip hop harder than ever. In 3 years, I put out three albums that I still listen too; even now. I was my biggest fan, but I had no “music business” experience. I was just rapping. The best way to bring music to life was music videos, so I paid people for them but could never get the vision I wanted. In 2015, I bought my own camera and fell in love with videography. Starting out I only shot my own videos, but I kept falling short on traction for releases. The music and visuals were there, but how do I expand it further. Till this day, that’s a golden question for anyone making music, so I went into the videography space and shot other people’s videos. From 2017-2021, I shot a total of 500+ music videos, and gained recognition and respect in my city of Birmingham, AL. But even with that being known, as a creator/artist you’re still going to faces hardships in certain things. So my biggest personal trait with other creators is: be humble, asking for help isn’t a weakness, experiment with your craft, and don’t think you’re superior when we all share the same aspirations at the beginning.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely come to LCY Media. Duh! Then go one street over and get some Jack Browns or Hattie Bs to eat. See Vulcan, Seasick Records, Mom’s Basement, Black Market, really all I got. I’m home editing usually.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My right hand man, Zach Mckown, is truly how this could even happen for the company. Starting our journey 10 years ago in his parents house, then as years went on, reconstruct the brand to what it is today. Without Zach, there is no LCY Media and I’m glad I get to work hand-in-hand with my bestfriend.
