We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlie Maxine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carlie Maxine, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe risk are unfamiliar opportunities to win. In order to transform and elevate you must step out of your comfort zone and explore unchartered territory.
Taking risks have had a tremendous impact on my career. From assisting clients who are challenged by hair loss to conquering my fears and entering hair contests. Taking the risk and trusting my instincts resulted in success in my career and my heart.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I look at each client as a beautiful canvas to create hair art. I believe my soul and spirit is what sets me apart from others. The energy I possess within is reflected through my clients hair service.
I smile from ear to ear with excitement when my clients feel like a new person once I complete the service. When they notice a difference in hair texture or hair growth the feeling is indescribable! The energy I feel from their happiness and even tears of joy truly keeps me motivated.
I have learned many lessons over the last 11 years in the hair industry. My advice to all would be: stay true to yourself and do not allow negativity to dim your light or blind you from your purpose! Trust your intuition and press forward towards your goals with a clear mind, a pure heart, and your head held high!
I would like the world to know that each and every one of us has our own special mission. As a Cosmetologist , my mission is deeper than creating hair art. Part of my mission is to educate and guide clients on their healthy hair journey and at times be a confidant with no judgment. I take pride in creating a safe, and healthy environment for anyone who walks through my door.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my gratitude to God, my ancestors and my guardian angels . My father taught me at a very young age the beauty and importance of a healthy relationship with myself and my spirit team . I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without them.
I would also like to thank my family and mentors LaShawn Hill and Kayla Vaughn of Natural Elements Hair Salon in Birmingham, Alabama. They taught me the ins and outs of the hair industry back when natural hair was unpopular. Working with LaShawn and Kayla taught me how to implement love into my hair art and bring joy to my clients.
