We had the good fortune of connecting with Carah Faye and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business/solo music career boiled down to creative control. I love the music I made with my band, Shiny Toy Guns, but truly felt like I had so much more to say from a more personal perspective. We had been through a lot of a amazing highs and tumultuous lows together that I needed to sort through emotionally. Also, I had joined the band right as I became an adult and I needed to both find the person I was and create from her alone.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Music is all I’ve really ever known. I’m lucky enough to have navigated life solely with music as my profession. It’s been a wild ride full of albums, tours, heartbreak, excitement and discovery. My heart longs to be vulnerable in my art. I’ve never been a perfect person but I carry no shame and love telling my truths.
I tend to write from a sorrowful place, even if my melodies are placed on happier beats. It seems to be what my soul wants to say. This holds true for the music I am drawn to listen to as well. As an artist, I am incapable of staying creatively locked on a path. I need the freedom to grow as a human everyday as well as the freedom to let my artistic journey ebb and flow with that growth. I feel very deeply when I feel, and my goal has always been to bring others on that journey. So, if you’re listening, strap in I suppose. 🙂

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First we start at the Botanical Gardens to reset all ideas of what the ‘city” feels like. Then we head over to downtown Decatur for lunch followed by walking around to soak in all the character.

The next day we’re headed to Momo Cafe for coffee then driving south to ride golf carts in Peachtree City.

It would take at least a day to drive through and truly feel the history of some of the neighborhoods I’ve found.

The next few days I’d be taking them to Ponce City Market, the incredible Georgia Aquarium(my daughters favorite), Piedmont Park and a slew of incredible restaurants and cafe’s that we love.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This project would be nothing right now without the creative partnership I have with Spencer Peterson. Together we found something neither of us had been capable of alone. Since moving to GA, no one has been more crucial creatively than Nick Tabidze and Katelynn Burns. Our chance introduction, followed by their belief and excitement for the music, has been a lifeline to the vision. They have become a major part of our core team.
