We had the good fortune of connecting with Cara Maria Leighty and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cara Maria, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I wouldn’t say I’ve achieved said-success (yet), but I would have to say the most important factor to me is persistence. Don’t give up! Don’t quit! There have been many times when I’ve thought about giving up in terms of content creation (either based on lack of views or numbers) but I’ve pushed forward & truly discovered things about myself/my passions; ultimately gaining even more drive for what I love to do!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Hey! I’m Cara! I’m a content creator based out of Atlanta,GA. I make funny, relatable content on social media platforms TikTok, Facebook, Instagram & YouTube. I grew up in a small town in New Hampshire (Keene) & was involved in local theatre/arts as a kid. In 2007 I earned my BA at Florida Southern College in Communications (News Media) & soon discovered I didn’t want to work in the newsroom. Fast forward 13 years and I’m now a full-time Mom & part-time content creator! Basically I just love making people laugh, so I do it through video! I also have a passion for my Savior & want to share His life-giving message to the world! My brand took a turn (for the best) when I stopped focusing on my personal success & more on what I truly enjoyed doing. And of course Jesus is in that mix 😉 I was a YouTube Vlogger for a few years, but wasn’t gaining any traction with my channel. That’s what I started creating things that just made me laugh. I started making things that I enjoyed! That literally changed the ballpark for me! And thanks to Tiktok it definitely makes it easier for me to showcase my content!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting (which by the way she still needs to), I would definitely take her to some of Atlanta’s most TOURISTY spots first: GA Aquarium & Coca-Cola Factory. Then I’d bring her OTP to my fave sushi/Thai fusion restaurant in Acworth & maybe some skating at Sparkles! Especially on 80’s night!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shout-out to my Dad (Donald Berardi). I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now if it wasn’t for him supporting/ encouraging me & my sisters in the creative arts! We were all heavily involved in theatre/arts at a young age (as he was) & I’m certain this paved the way for what I currently do today! That, and him trusting us with our family’s $800 Sony Camcorder to make homemade movies with 😆
