We had the good fortune of connecting with Candis White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candis, what inspires you?
Honestly many things inspire me moreover I am inspired by my own story, I grew up in a single parent household and I was the oldest which meant that everything fell on me. This turned into me being a people pleasure, having very low self-esteem and not believing in my abilities. I’m inspired by my desire to push myself and believe in myself to see how far I can go, how I can be the best version of myself in different seasons of my life and how I can show up as the woman I want to be on a daily basis. I’m also inspired by women I meet inside and outside the treatment room who trust me enough to share their story which most of the time is similar to my story. I’m also inspired by their growth and how they push themselves into their purpose. I’m also inspired by my children I never want them to to feel as if they have to please everyone around them – I want them to know who they are before the world gets to them and tells them they aren’t capable of accomplishing what has already been placed inside of them.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed esthetician and instructor. I am the owner and lead esthetician at All Things Cozi an esthetic skincare studio where I perform skincare and waxing services. I also coach new estheticians on how to build their confidence, find their niche and build effective communication strategies to grow their confidence in their business.

Majority of my clients are women of color who suffer from hyperpigmentation, hyperactive thyroids and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). What sets me apart from other esthetician is that I’m Cozi and the gifts and talents given to me belong to me so I meet my clients where they are mentally, emotionally and spiritually so that I can provide them with the best care possible. I’m not the regular esthetician I understand that beauty is skin deep I struggled to find confidence in my own skin simply because I was a dark-skinned woman who was told I couldn’t have a certain career, wear certain things or be who I wanted to be because I was “too dark.” When I come across a client who isn’t confident or comfortable in their skin it is important that I cater to them so they leave more confidently than they came in each and every time. I have a network of fitness trainers and therapist I refer my clients to as well so they can become whole.

My goal is to build my clients confidence by any means necessary. The thing I am most proud about is when I see a clients skin and confidence change and knowing I was a catalyst for the change and growth. It wasn’t easy getting here it took work. I had to learn how to go it alone and how to trust myself and my process more. This sounds easy but I was the girl who was a people pleaser with low self-esteem and didn’t believe I had what it takes to be confident in my skin to grown as a business woman. It took healing, mirror work and saying my affirmations every single day to get to a place where I believed I CAN DO ALL THINGS. I had to silence the negative self talk and turn everything into positivity.

I’ve learned that things won’t always happen the way I expect them or want them to happen but they will happen if I stay committed to walk in purpose and become who I am called to be. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. The key to this is to enjoy BECOMING. I want people to know that I get up everyday and fight for what I want on a mental, spiritual and emotional level and somedays it does get hard but I think about who I needed when I was at my lowest point and tell myself there is a woman out there waiting for me to come through so she can too and I want to be her support to whatever capacity I can. I’ve learned how to set realistic expectations for myself and others and the most important thing that I’ve learned is how to set boundaries so that I can show up as my best self daily. Self care is essential to my growth,

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I want to give a shoutout to my lovely friend T.M. Stewart who is the poster girl for what trusting God and walking in faith and purpose looks like. Her book, “No Saving Me For Later” should be a NY Times best seller.
