Meet Candice Mann | Drybar Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Candice Mann and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Candice, how do you think about risk?
For whatever reason I am only drawn to risky endeavors! I graduated with high honors from UT Austin but instead of grad school or a job in my major of Broadcast Journalism, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. After many years of working on-camera and in voice over, I pivoted to small business ownership! (And moved my family across the country to Atlanta.) I love a challenge, and while there have been plenty of tough moments, it is so exciting to learn a whole new industry at this stage in life. I truly love all of Drybar’s core values but “Always Be Growing” really strongly resonates with me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I was a Drybar client first, back in Los Angeles where the brand started. I remember thinking, what a brilliant idea…a place where women could get their hair done in between cuts and color, whether it’s for an event, work, or simply as an act of self-care. I’m originally from the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, and it reminded me of my sweet, Southern grandma, who would get her hair “set” every single week at the “beauty parlor.”
When I started exploring business opportunities in 2022 and learned Drybar was franchising, it felt meant to be. I wanted a strong brand in a space I genuinely believed in, and I’ve always loved beauty and wellness. And Drybar just does it right…the shops are beautiful, we offer you complimentary beverages like coffee, tea, and champagne, and take the hassle of doing your own hair off your plate while you relax and enjoy a scalp massage, watch a rom-com, or get some work done on your lap-top.
It hasn’t been easy, but what I’m most proud of is building something that not only serves clients but also creates opportunities for my team. The biggest lessons I’ve learned? Stay adaptable, stay optimistic, and lean into community- both at home and in business.
What I want people to know is this: Drybar isn’t just about hair. It’s about confidence, joy, and giving yourself permission to feel good-even on an ordinary Tuesday.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well she’d have her kids with her, so we would have to hit the Georgia Aquarium and the Botanical Gardens. They’re both such Atlanta gems and perfect for families.
I’d make sure we spent an afternoon exploring Ponce City Market and walking the Beltline. They remind me so much of NYC’s High Line and Chelsea Market, or LA’s Grand Central Market with that same, great mix of energy, creativity, and people-watching.
We’d definitely do some hiking, too. Stone Mountain is fun for families-kids love a train! And there are so many lush trails around Atlanta where you can find waterfalls or stroll along the river.
For date night, my husband and I love Canoe. It’s such a beautiful spot right on the Chattahoochee with amazing food and a cozy, relaxed atmosphere. Of course, I also adore the grand, historical Fox Theatre with its twinkling ceiling and ornate architecture.
And for more local charm, I’d take her to Canton Street in Roswell or (shameless plug!) Vinings Jubilee. Both are filled with fabulous local businesses and restaurants. I’ve gotten to know many of the other owners, and it’s truly such a supportive and inspiring community, especially among fellow family and women-owned businesses.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My incredible husband and kids, Sean, Isla, and Alec, deserve the biggest shoutout. They keep me sane, grounded, and fed! Business ownership is no joke…it’s a lot like having a newborn-all consuming, exhausting, with highs and lows that feel like a rollercoaster, but I am so lucky to be on this ride with them.
