We had the good fortune of connecting with Candace Orange and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candace, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
When faced with the decision of whether to continue pushing forward or to consider letting go, as a seasoned entrepreneur, this is a challenge I encounter regularly. Many people mistakenly equate “giving up” with failure, but through my experiences, I’ve come to understand that failure is not an endpoint, but rather an opportunity for growth and improvement. It’s about addressing weaknesses and imperfections and using them as stepping stones toward success.

“You have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable”

I’ve witnessed firsthand how even the most successful companies face setbacks and failures along their journey. They don’t view these setbacks as reasons to give up but rather as opportunities to learn, adapt, and evolve. As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned to embrace discomfort and uncertainty, recognizing that it’s often in these moments that the greatest opportunities for growth arise.

Knowing when to pivot or walk away from a project that no longer serves its purpose is not a sign of failure, but rather a strategic decision based on changing circumstances. It’s about being agile and adaptable in the face of challenges, and having the courage to let go of what no longer aligns with my vision or goals.

Ultimately, I believe that true failure only occurs when one gives up entirely. As long as you remain resilient, adaptable, and willing to learn from your failures, you can continue to move forward and achieve success in your entrepreneurial endeavors.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a creative agency owner specializing in branding for product-based beauty and lifestyle brands, I’ve embarked on a journey as a serial entrepreneur, launching my own product line. Recognizing the significance of women’s beauty, particularly in their hair, I developed Weaveproduct, a weave hair care line aimed at empowering women to define their own beauty and extend the lifespan of their weaves. I intentionally chose the term “weave” over “hair extensions” to reclaim its narrative, dispel negative connotations, and celebrate the beauty and versatility of this styling

I’m absolutely thrilled about this brand because, firstly, I have complete creative autonomy as the brand’s creative director, allowing me to bring my wildest brand visions to life. It’s like my very own IP, showcasing to clients that I’m capable of anything. Secondly, what really excites me is curating the best products that genuinely work! Our star product, Weavesoap, is a testament to that.

Starting Weaveproducts definitely wasn’t easy because, as designers, we tend to be our own worst critics, but I’ve learned the importance of delegating tasks. For me, the hardest part was definitely the launch. Being a perfectionist, I wanted everything to be flawless, which unfortunately caused some significant delays. Once I launched, everything looked good, but I didn’t have the audience to buy. So over the past year, we’ve been diligently working on brand awareness and building that cult following. It’s definitely not easy, but I believe I can do everything i put my mind to!

Throughout this journey, I’ve learned valuable lessons about the importance of delegation, managing perfectionism, and the significance of building a strong audience base. These experiences have taught me resilience, adaptability, and the power of continuous improvement.

I want the world to know that my brand represents more than just products; it embodies a commitment to creativity, authenticity, and empowering others to embrace their unique beauty. My story is one of passion, perseverance, and the belief that with dedication and determination, anything is possible. I aspire to inspire others to pursue their dreams fearlessly and to never underestimate the impact of their own creativity and innovation.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

You know, Atlanta has truly become a hotspot for foodies and those seeking interactive experiences lately! As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to realize the importance of stress-free outings, especially when it comes to finding parking. If I have to circle around 3 times, I will go home lol. So, here are my top five favorite spots in Atlanta that never disappoint:

Apt 4B: The ambiance, the cuisine, and above all, the service at Apt 4B are truly impeccable. I can’t help but rave about this place every chance I get!

Delbar: The grilled veggies and zatar wings at Delbar are absolutely divine! Not to mention, the restaurant offers a delightful, aesthetically pleasing atmosphere.

Politan Row: With a diverse range of options to choose from, Politan Row has something for everyone. Even when it’s bustling with people, it never feels overcrowded.

Therapy Lounge: Who doesn’t need a little therapy now and then? This cozy lounge seamlessly transitions from daytime office hours with hookah and Ethiopian coffee to nighttime indulgence with the best shrimp and grits in town.

When it comes to enjoying a great rooftop experience, Bar Peri at the AC Hotel Perimeter is my ultimate go-to spot. With free parking (a major plus for me!), stunning views of the Sandy Springs and Buckhead skylines, it’s an unbeatable choice for a night out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

During this shoutout, I’d like to extend my appreciation to my close friends who are fellow creative entrepreneurs, as they’ve been a consistent source of support and encouragement throughout the journey, understanding the challenges and providing invaluable motivation.
