We had the good fortune of connecting with Calvin Watt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Calvin, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?

Being a problem solver is one of the most important factors behind our success. It is what our company is built on. We wanted to solve the problems of your home, and living your best life in it. Whether the problem is in our specific field of design or somewhere else, we love being a resource. I truly believe the more problem you solve for a client, the more that client will keep coming back to you.

Just like in corporate America, the more problems you solve for your chain of command, the more they request you. Making problem solving a part of your normal routines is a key to being successful in any career.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

The C’VION Company is an interior design firm who services residential homes primarily, but also light commercial and events. We design new construction, remodels to room refreshes. Because sometimes you just need a professional touch when it comes to your home. We are so thankful to have been around for over a decade now servicing our wonderful clients. Our business mostly relies on referrals, and 90% of our clients are from just that. When you do a good job in someone’s home and they keep hiring you back. that goes a long way in the stability of a company or a brand. Anyone can be a one time wonder, however; we strive, to be your family’s design firm for generations to come.

When we first started designing client homes we did know how to charge for our services or even if people would pay for someone who didn’t go to school for design but has a natural talent in it. Low and behold, the universe had other plans.

I wish i could take you our first projects were strategic but we were just excited to be doing something else that we love.

One of our 1st commercial job was a hair distributors offices. And because their offices got a lot of foot traffic by women primarily they always asked who designed your space. Well our clients love our work and they have no problem referring us. So from that client we got more clients. And those types of scenarios go on and on.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For all of my guest who visit me, we will always have lunch at Piedmont Park and walk the park afterwards. Piedmont park is one of my favorite places year round. A park is such a wonderful place to do outdoor activities, read a book, have a picnic or just walk and talk life with friends. Another thing we would do is check out a theater show are the FOX or some of the small venues around the city. With all that walking and fun, to end our time we have to go and have a foot and body massage at Treat Your Feet. These are just my favorite things to do with my guest. I wonder what yours will be?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a big should out to IBM for taking a chance with me fresh out of high school and into college those many years ago. Working in corporate America gave me tools to be successful on my own. Working with different manager and different service lines, helped to broaden my ability to adapt and problem solve. All those years with such a prestigious company truly help to develop me into the person our clients interact with today.
