We had the good fortune of connecting with Caley Cline and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Caley, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue a creative career because growing up, being artistic allowed me to express who I am. I slowly altered the crafty, drawing side of me into a love for all things beauty. To this day, I’m not sure if I chose the path, everyday there’s a small reminder why the path I’m on chose me.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My artistic ability started when I was young.I was constantly drawing and working on improving my artistic abilities. As I got older I transferred that ability into my passion for makeup. I am proud that I was able to take my God given talent and create a successful business to create works of art with faces as palettes instead of a canvas. We are all different and unique in our own way. Not every look will look the same on different facial structures and skin tones. Understanding my clients skin types, textures and tones is vital to my success. It’s important as an artist to help encourage women and men to love their skin as it is, and to ignore the so called “beauty standards” that we live in today. Your skin tells stories, embrace it. I believe I have strengths and weaknesses just like any other artist. will make mistakes. I will come across people who don’t see my work being ‘good enough’. I am learning everyday what it takes to be a successful makeup artist. And I hope to never stop learning new and exiting ways to make women feel beautiful and confident. I am very proud that I have studied and researched and educated myself. I love sharing my passion with others by showing them the art of makeup and how to have fun with it. I believe I became successful whenever I knew I had a talent and needed to pour all of my heart and soul into creating something for me. For the longest time, I didn’t think I was good enough to become a local MUA, there were so many other talented artist, that I could never match. It wasn’t easy to get where I am today, and I’m not done. From the start, my faithful clients, friends, and family have carried me into success, and there will always be more opportunities and challenges to take on as an artist. I am excited to continue growing as a person and business owner.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend coming into town, I would first take them to my favorite restaurant right around the corner from where I live (metro ATL) which is La Bamba. I would then proceed taking them to a Braves game that night. To continue the night, we could tour all of the restaurants/shops throughout the battery. The following day, I would love to take them to Stone Mountain, which growing up used to be my favorite place to go to with my family. After, we could eat at the Varsity.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It has taken some time to to get where I am today with my business. It all starts with my mom. My mom is my biggest fan and number one supporter. My husband and I both usually work every weekend. My mom is always the one to step in and help with my daughter with open arms. She has always supported and encouraged me through the rough and fun times during my career. My mom always told me growing up in any circumstance to stand up for myself, to put every inch of love and backbone into what I do, and no matter what you are doing, complete the task to the very best of your ability. That is what I believe has made my business stand firm today. I know she will always stand with me as a mentor and celebrate my success as I grow and continue down a successful path.
