We had the good fortune of connecting with C.K. Mulfort and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi C.K., what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For me, there wasn’t much a thought process behind starting the business. It just happened naturally. There was more of thought process of how I could build that business. My business started from simply knowing I have something I love to do, which is create, and others believe so too. Being super creative has always been a part of me. From filming, to designing, to writing. It’s just me! It’s what I am known for by my peers and it’s what I love to do. The more I did it, the more it became profitable. From there, I was able to structure my CREATIVITY or CREATIVENESS into a business. I think starting a business should start from a place where it is natural. Doing it because it is your gift, talent, or passion should be the goal instead of simply starting a business cause you need money.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I consider myself as a creator. I wrote a book, produced a board game, filmed a tv series, and designed a toy. What sets me apart from some is that fact that I simply love creating for the enjoyment of saying I did it. Having the ability to creat something that someone else can enjoy is what makes me fulfilled and proud. It’s what motivates me to keep the engine going. Also, everything that I work on stems from a need or an issue that I’ve seen. I created a board game because men and women have such a hard time when it comes to dating and understanding each other. I wrote a book because at some point in a woman’s life, she will find herself in battle between the woman she is and the woman she wants to be. I designed a toy because there was a lack for couples toys. I filmed a tv series to get a message out there. Everything about

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Orlando, and in addition to Disney World being around the corner, this city is a melting pot with all types of people. That means there’s all kind of food and events. I would take that friend of mine to Universal studios to have a good time and experience life as a little kid by riding all the rides. Then, we’d check out some of the happy hour spots throughout the week such as Ember, Tori Tori, Rocos Tacos, 534 Scratch, and a couple of others spots. Outside of Disney and Universal, Orlando has a lot of caribbean festivals and events to offer you a good time. Now, when it comes to eating, Orlando, as I mentioned before, is a melting pot, and as of a result, have plenty of spots to offer. Haitian, Jamaican, Korean, Nigerian, and soul food will be exciting for anyone’s taste buds. On the weekend, we have Brick & Spoon or Santiago’s for brunch. If they’re into the night life, going to Cafe circa, Ember, M Lounge or Amway would be a nice time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We all find inspiration from people surrounded by us. Whether we know it or not. Sometime, those people may not be people that we actually know. I found inspiration in many ways. Friends, family, strangers, and even a little in myself. Taking bits of everyone stories or goals is what motivated me to keep doing what I love. I have a particular friend of mine who has a drive for success that very few can match. It’s vibrant and determined. For all my life I always been creative, but watching him allowed me to actually do something with my creativeness. Something that others could hold, watch, and enjoy. His work ethic rubbed off on me. Now whether it was subconsciously or consciously, witnessing that only made want to keep working on my craft every single day. Now, there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t dedicate something towards my passion. Whether it’s just writing down a thought or an ideal, sending out a message, making contact to someone at a company, editing, or whatever the case may be. I know I can be doing something.
