We had the good fortune of connecting with Butta B-Rocka and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Butta, how do you think about risk?
I think you have to take risk to succeed! Often people play it safe and stay in their comfort zone, but that keeps you stagnant and leaves no room for growth. I have personally risked it all and always dive into the deep end. Do I get scared of course, but had I not jumped in and learned how to pivot along the way. Many doors got closed along the way and I could have let their opinion of me stop me in my tracks, instead I had to realize you can’t let someone else view of you determine your life. Once I start taking control of my own fate, opportunities and different doors opened. I was one dimensional for a while, I only wanted to sing, now that I opened myself up to grow, I’m not only an international recording touring artist. But also am now an Amazon Best Selling Author, Playwright, Editor n Chief of a magazine and my radio show has just been picked up by a major Italian radio station and I have an iheart radio station!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Professionally, I got to where I am today by not letting someone else’s opinion of me determine my fate. When one door closed, I built my own! I took every NO and learned from it. I focused on a lot of self development. I believe it’s important as a creative to not let your ideas get tainted so often you can lost in the vision others give and lose yourself, your creativity, your identity.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Umm good question, I love roof top restaurants so specific one, just ones with great views and ambience. I also being an artist myself, love live music. There is not like live music, the energy etc. So if I’m not performing – you can me at various concerts or live club settings, like St James Live!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother is my biggest inspiration. Wen I was younger her focus was 100% into my music career, it wasn’t until after both my sister and I were grown with kids of our own, that my mom decided to go back to college to get her Doctrine! Working 12 hours shifts, yet still maintaining all honors.
