We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryce Cannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bryce, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued Professional Wrestling because it was my first love. Professional wrestling is the one thing that I can think of that has always been apart of my life. Whether it was the darkest moments, or even the happiest moments, somehow pro wrestling was there. Professional Wrestling is a childhood dream of mine that I decided to make a reality.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others in my sport is the drive and determination. I am willing to do whatever it takes to be seen, and noticed. I have a unique hair style that most would not be caught dead sporting. I am always seeking to get better by not only asking but applying constructive criticism. Learning is a big part of getting better, and I have learned it is better to listen than speak sometimes.
I am most proud of my current fitness journey. In April I started a journey to get into better physical shape. I hired a professional trainer and nutritionist to help meet this goal. I have lost 25 lbs of pure body fat, and have become in the best shape of my professional career. I have to thank Rob O’Mahoney for helping me through this process! He has gotten me to. point where i look the part of a “pro wrestler”, and we are still working together to get me to the next level of this journey.
I got to where I am today professionally by remaining humble and focused. This is not easy in the world of professional wrestling. There are a lot of highs and lows when it comes to this industry. One moment you can be “high on the mountain”, and the next match you are wondering why you wrestle and put yourself through this headache every week. However, finding that mental spot that allows me to remember my “Why”. When i think of my why, it makes me more determined and motivated to continue and push through whatever may have gone wrong.
There have been many lessons shared and learned in my journey. The main lesson can be learned from John Cena. Cena has a saying that goes “If you want some, come get some.”. This holds true as opportunities in pro wrestling are not going to come to you. If you want the opportunity, you’re going to have to go work and get the opportunity yourself.
I would want the world to know that Rome was not built in a day, and neither was Bryce Cannon. Everything that you see has taken time and effort that would make some people quit. I’ve shed blood, tears, and wanted to quit myself. But like i mentioned earlier, it all comes back to my “why”. I remember being the guy who was there to enhance others and make them look like the stars they were. I remember not getting paid for a match, because i was willing to do whatever it took to be on the card. I remember driving miles and miles to show that turned me down when I got there. But at the end of the day it got me to where I am now. It got me to be Georgia Wrestling’s 2020 Best Male Performer, 2020 Match of the Year, 2x Tag Team/Faction of the Year, multiple time champion across the state, and more. All of this is possible because of a dream and determination.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friends came for a weekend the spots I would take them to would definitely be:
Putt Shack
Hsu’s Gourmet Chinese Restaurant
The Battery (Full day in itself0
The Vortex (Little Five Points) (I have an autographed napkin hanging by the bathrooms)
Atlantic Station
Hobnob (brunch)
just to name a few spots..
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When I think of my success I think of those who paved the way for me. Whether it be the well known legends such as Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, or The Rock. Or even the ones who allowed me to learn from them such as my trainer, Michael Stevens, guys like “WWE Hall of Famer” Robert Gibson, Luke Gallows, Francisco Ciatso, and many more. I also think of family. My fiance supports me and encourages me to push harder everyday, and I can’t thank her enough for her support. In this business it is very hard to have someone who not only supports you, but understands how grueling the schedule can be.
