Meet Bryce Bulls | Performance Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryce Bulls and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bryce, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
My passion extends beyond the conventional boundaries of performance coaching. I derive genuine fulfillment from cultivating the potential within each athlete, guiding them strategically towards their aspirational goals. As a dedicated performance coach, I prioritize a holistic approach, emphasizing not only the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of training, but also the crucial ‘why.’ This involves a comprehensive educational framework, empowering athletes with a deep understanding of the methodologies employed. Recognizing the unique pressures faced by collegiate athletes, I place significant emphasis on navigating the inevitable mental health fluctuations that accompany their demanding journey. My coaching philosophy is rooted in the development of sustainable habits, a robust work ethic, and the cultivation of unwavering self-confidence. By fostering this multifaceted growth, I aim to equip my athletes with the tools necessary for both athletic and personal success, ensuring they are prepared to thrive not just in their sport, but in all facets of their lives.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My journey to this point has been a testament to both hard-earned experience and, I believe, divine guidance. It has been a path marked by significant challenges, navigating both professional and personal obstacles, and confronting the inevitable self-doubt that accompanies any ambitious endeavor. However, by remaining steadfast in my principles, trusting my expertise, and allowing the objective results to speak for themselves, I have consistently overcome these hurdles. This process has instilled in me a profound understanding of the non-linear nature of progress, recognizing that consistent personal records are not the sole measure of success. Furthermore, I have learned the crucial art of adaptive coaching, understanding the need for flexibility and responsiveness to the athlete’s daily condition. The ability to pivot, to employ alternative strategies to maintain momentum, is essential for effective training. Ultimately, I attribute my achievements to God, acknowledging that my skills in relationship building, diligent work ethic, and leadership are gifts to be utilized in service of others. My mission extends beyond athletic performance; I strive to create a positive and supportive training environment that cultivates healthy habits, while also reflecting the values that guide my life. I believe that through this holistic approach, I can empower athletes to achieve their full potential, both physically and personally.

I am deeply indebted to the profound mentorship of Daniel Albrittain and Justin Halsey. Their influence has been pivotal in shaping my critical thinking as a performance coach, fostering a culture of rigorous inquiry and self-directed discovery. Their guidance has instilled in me the importance of evidence-based practice and a commitment to continuous learning. Furthermore, my professional development has been significantly enriched by a diverse range of resources, including seminal texts such as ‘Movement Over Maxes,’ ‘Triphasic Training,’ and ‘Biomechanics of Sprinting and Jumping,’ as well as the insightful framework of ‘The 8 Vector System.’ These resources, combined with the invaluable mentorship I’ve received, have provided a robust foundation for my approach to performance enhancement, enabling me to deliver comprehensive and effective training strategies.
