Meet Bruce Millar: Georgia Personal Injury Attorney

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bruce Millar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bruce, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I chose to start my personal injury law practice because I wanted to handle cases for regular people, not big businesses. Practicing personal injury law allows me to help everyone from all walks of life, including people who assume they can’t afford to hire a good lawyer. Just because you don’t make a lot of money shouldn’t mean you can’t afford a top lawyer. Personal injury cases allow lawyers to handle cases on a contingent fee, meaning we can help anyone who has a real case. It really is the people’s law.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
After law school I had the fantastic opportunity to work with and learn from attorney Lee Sexton in Jonesboro. Although I didn’t know much about Jonesboro and Clayton County, the community welcomed me and within a few years I had a thriving law practice in downtown Jonesboro. My first employees were Debbie Criste and Janet Van Wie 25 and 23 years ago. Both Debbie and Janet still work for the firm. Since then, we have added about 15 more employees and have grown to be much more than just a personal injury law firm. Our firm is strongly committed to supporting the education, enrichment, health, and overall well-being of the communities we serve. For over 27 years, we’ve upheld our commitment to our community through volunteering, charitable contributions, and other service initiatives.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I moved to Atlanta from North Carolina in 1990 to attend law school at Emory University. I chose Atlanta and Emory because Atlanta was, and still is, an exciting and growing city with a lot of opportunities and tons of things to do. That said, if I listed all the things I love to do in Atlanta, we’d be here a while. One of our offices is on Peachtree, and there’s tons to do in Midtown. I also like to go to The Battery for a Braves Game and Mercedes-Benz stadium for Falcons games and Atlanta United matches. My wife and I also go to the Clayton County International Park regularly. We like to run and ride our bikes on the trails there. I like to boat on Lake Spivey. I also like to go to the Porsche 356 restaurant for lunch.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to Attorney Lee Sexton, for the opportunity to work with and learn from him. I’d also like to dedicate my shoutout to my wife, children, the hardworking team at The Millar Law Firm, as well as our clients, colleagues, and community partners. I owe over 27 years of success to each of them.
