We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Wooley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brooke, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from what use to be a pretty small town in Florida. Growing up we worked, and early on ! I remember being 16 and working in my parent nursery in the potting pit (it’s a huge mound of potting soil ) and I had to sit there from 6am till about lunch time potting plants. My dad then comes up throws me the keys to this old beat up truck that the windows didn’t work in and tells me to run to McDonalds to grab lunch for everyone. I was so excited for the AC that I totally forgot how dirty I was , and when I walked in I instantly saw all the kids from the “cool” group in school and of course I became a laughing joke for about a week or so. I vowed right then and there 1. I would treat everyone equally regardless of appearance and 2. I had no other option I had to make something of myself or I’d end up in a potting pit my whole life ! So that’s all I focused on! I always tell myself at the start of each new year , I need to do better , wether it be financially, mentally or spiritually I MUST KEEP MOVING FORWARD!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I don’t think I know what sets us apart. I do ask clients from time to time why they chose myself or my team and I typically get back “ are you serious, you’re awesome “ so (laughing) I’m still trying to figure it out.
I’m most proud of how we treat anyone who walks through the door. I don’t care how you look, if you have to come with all the kids , if you have bad credit, I DON’T CARE ! I will work with you where ever you are in life for however long to make sure we get you your dream of being a home owner or business owner!
Learning never came easy for me as a child or a adult ! I have Dyslexia and ADHD and I really taught myself how to read, spell and do most math equations! Teachers taught a curriculum, not a child!
So no starting a business knowing absolutely nothing about it wasn’t easy BUT it got easier the more I worked on it ! I watched YouTube ,and if I ever tell you to Google something, it’s because that’s how I learn by doing it myself ! I built two successful real estate businesses by working every day and night and I’m still learning!
One lesson I learned the hard way is mainly, everyone in the Business is in the game of WIIFM ( What’s in it for me). I truly hate that about this business and I don’t care who you are or what you do for me if you need help I’m giving it regardless of what Broker or firm you are with! I once switched firms and had a appointment set up with a pretty big agent (at my then old firm ). He TEXT me to cancel it saying “ I think it’s best we don’t meet” !
I would never make anyone feel like he did me that day , like I was beneath he and his team for taking my business in a different route than he (his wife really)had taken them! So moral of the story if you need help or want to sit down with me regardless of where you’re at in you’re career IM HERE !
I want the world to know we care , and there are still decent and good agents out there without baited breath and who want the best for agents , clients and vendors alike !
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So funny you say this, because I just discovered and AMAZING website called Amazing Company and they do scavenger hunts in all the best places in and around ATL. It was the best time ever I would definitely fill our schedule with all those from Midtown to Ellijay and then back!
They plan these stops for you to pick up food for a picnic at the end and I discovered so much of the city I call home that I didn’t even know about !
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All day long my father and grandparents
My dad ruled the house with a stern hand but always there for a hug if you needed it. And my grandparents were always the glue that kept us all together and also kept us in church where I learned a lot about , being a Christian in the church as well as outside when no one was watching.
Because of both of these upbringings I do a lot of things behind the scenes that people may not know about besides me and the other person that might have needed a hand up at that time. I never want to brag about helping someone in their hardest hour to make me look good because think about how it must feel for the other person !
Also oddly enough , if you’ve ever talked to me about church or the Bible or how my company started I bring up the book of Ruth ALOT and if you’re a female , even if you aren’t a Christian, find a Bible and read that very short but VERY impactful book, I promise it won’t disappoint!
