We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brooke, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Like every story, some burdens have to be lifted in order to move on to the next chapter. When starting my business, I became very overwhelmed with trying to figure out what was next after losing my job in 2020. A former teammate once said, “Depression can either make you or break you. It can push you to do the unexpected, even push you to make a difference in your life”. This statement stuck with me because, in those moments of turmoil where my future looked uncertain, I decided to overcome rather than let my current circumstances pull me down. It was a pivotal statement that lifted me back up to take control of my life and where I wanted it to be in the future.
As I began to think about my next move, I began to notice so many small business owners struggling to start and maintain their careers. They were also quite overwhelmed trying to manage every task of their business alone, and this led me to realize that I could help alleviate some of the obstacles that prevent these business owners from sustaining their businesses. My clients understand that they need to outsource their Brand, Marketing, and Website Development needs so they can solely focus on operating their business. Helping others is something that has always brought me joy, and I am so grateful to partner with creatives committed to making an impact.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Work is everything and more than I ever imagined when starting BMW in 2020. I work with such innovative people in my team who are driven and committed to prioritizing our partner’s best interests by listening to their concerns, goals, and dreams. As you can imagine, we work with clients that dream big and are motivated to build a legacy that empowers their community. My team helps them clarify their vision, build a plan, and develop brand assets that will put them closer to achieving their aspirations. Making an impact like that makes me so proud of my team and also makes me proud of working with other entrepreneurs that continue to inspire me every day.
I can also say that this work allows me to give back to my community and overcome challenges thanks to the individuals in my life today who continue to inspire and give me the strength to rise above life’s never-ending stream of obstacles. My work also gives me a sense of achievement and sparks motivation, which is something I’ve come to cherish.
One of the best lessons I’ve learned is to take the time you need to explore life and dream big; if you want to reach your goals and succeed, you have to prioritize and focus on what you value most. Challenges will arise, and it’s ok if you don’t have it all together right away; give yourself room to figure it out and it’ll come when you least expect it to. With the help of friends, mentors, and therapy, I have been extremely fortunate to have found my purpose and have been able to pursue it in my daily work.
When starting a business, like many things in life, it is important to know that you’re not in it alone. There are many people out there wanting to grow with you and support you on your journey. We’ve created strong relationships with other creative agencies which has allowed us to gain many clients through agency referrals when our expertise is better suited for the clients needs. We provide the same courtesy to other agencies because the journey is so much better when you surround yourself in an environment like this. As a team, we are honored and inspired by the voices of our clients, and how we are able to support them on their journey.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a foodie, so I love to eat my way around Atlanta. For your out-of-town guests, I recommend starting the day at Rosie’s Cafe, Toast on Lenox, or Corner Cafe (They have the best pretzel croissant ever!). Next, I’d check out the Civil Art Museum, Aquarium, or one of the festivals at Piedmont Park. The High Museum is another favorite worth visiting as well. Enjoy your evening at one of my favorite seafood spots: Sweet Auburn Seafood, The Optimist, and Seven Sushi; and if you’re in the mood for some rockin’ caribbean eats, I’d recommend Rock Steady or The Continent.
If you have the time, make your way north to visit Marietta Square. There are plenty of Breweries and great places to eat there. CRÚ Food & Wine Bar is my favorite place for wine tasting at The Battery, and stop next door to Burn for a cigar if that’s your preference. A little further north, in Alpharetta, The Cape, MF Sushi, or District III are my go-to’s at The Avalon. Finally, for dessert, I love to order Southern Delight Ice Cream (CHEF DARREL WRIGHT DELIVERS!). If you need more options, you can make your way to Alon’s Bakery or Duck Donuts.”
