We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Hutto and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brooke, what principle do you value most?
The most important thing I value is family. They are my number one priority and my world. They are always there to help, no matter the situation. My whole family has supported me since day one of becoming a hairdresser. They let me experiment on them, they always share my marketing posts, and always tell me how proud they are. No one could ever replace the love, loyalty, and honesty that my family gives me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am an independent contractor for Clay and Company Salon in Gainesville, Georgia. I’ve learned that most people not only look for a good stylist, but someone they can connect with. My clients sit down in my chair and they immediately relax. They talk to get things off their mind, they get a nice scalp massage to relax them, and they know that they can trust in their stylist. I’ve been with clients as they cried over losing a child. I’ve stood and brushed out matted hair as my client cried talking about her abuser. I’ve smiled in awe at pictures of their children’s weddings. I’ve listed to widows talk about their passed partners. You see, being a cosmetologist isn’t just about making people beautiful on the outside. It’s also about making them feel beautiful on the inside and that is something I take pride in.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are plenty of fun things to do in the Gainesville area! My favorite spot for home cooked food is The Longstreet Cafe! They people are very friendly and the food is AMAZING! There are also great places to shop! Some of my favorite places are Fashion 10 Below, the Image Boutique, Dress Up, and My Sisters Resale Boutique! The Gainesville area also has a few nice parks and lakes to go fishing!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to my mom (Shannan Johnson) and my dad (Steve Johnson). They have ALWAYS been my number one fan. They’ve taught me to be independent, and to never give up on your dreams. They pushed me to try again when I failed. When I wanted to give up in cosmetology school, they reminded me how much I love what I do. Thank you for everything mom and dad!
