We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittniee Simmone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittniee, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As a kid I always wanted to start my business. I would rake leaves, take out trash, sell candy and do my class mates homework. So, as an adult I kept the entrenpruener spirit alive. I started Do You See What I. see? Productions after being on a. radio show in college. I haave a different and unique perspective on life and I wanted to share it. My frieneds always loved to hear me talk and tell so jokes. It just made sense to turn it in to a career. I also like to write and tell stories so I published three books. Donovan the Ice boarding Penguin was inspired by my childhood and my nephew. We both like to skateboard and I thin penguins are cute. Donovan created his own iceboarding sport and he wears a cool hat that shows off my hometown , Detroit. Samantha the Spider in the mailbox was inspired by my other nephews and little brother. Everyday there was a spider in the mailbox and I thought it would be a cool idea to write about it. Samantha got lost in a snow storm in a new town and made new friends. Plues, my favorite colors are pink and purple. Her color was inspired by the banana spiders I would see in the mailbox. Scorpio Love Poems from this scorpio was all my diea. I love Langston Hughes and his poems. My favorite poem of his is a. Mother to Son. I. read it in third grade and I understood the symbolism . I started writing my own poems after that. Im also a scorpio and our passion is one that people love. We are also mysterious and private so I wantd to share some of my poems. All in all, im too creative not to turn my ideas into money. I hoope to inspire others to do the same.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work is very different and out of the ox. One of my other favorite poems is the Road Less Traveled. I like to do things differently and put my own spin on it. I am extremely creative and a deep thinker. My father always told my to question everything, including him. With that advice and permission from him, I do. I always ask myself, why cant I?, who d=said it had to be this way?, if I could express myself in a different way, how can I do that? I am a deep thinker and I love exploring the unknown and going outside of the box . I am expected to be a certain kind of black woman and I seek to dispel that belief. We are all different from skin color, race, age and beliefs, so I stick to being me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take he’d to the museums of her choice, especially historical black museums. Then we will check out the jazz lounges in Macon and eat fried salmon bites at the Library. I’d take her to Savanna and walk the strip She likes water like I do, so a ferry and boat rice is on the menu. Lastly, we will stop by Buckeyes and get some Fudge inWarner Robins. My best friend loves fudge.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My daddy, he would always tell me I could be whatever I wanted to be and don’t apologize for being it. Also my mom, I wanna be the reason why she retires from working for others and can open her daycare Finally, Zoe ministries and the Jordan family for giving me a voice.
