We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittney Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittney, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business (Eventures by Brittney) was simply me trusting God’s Word “our gifts will make room for us” (Proverbs 18-16). I desired to do something I LOVE and to stop taking my gifts for granted. Being an event stylist is my passion and brings me so much joy. It’s ministry in itself; being able to create beautiful everlasting memories in my clients’ lives is such an honor. When I see my clients cry, continuously thank me, and refer my business to others I can’t help but to give God the glory because my gift not only brings me joy but brings joy to a room full of people that will remember that special day for years to come.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am the owner of Eventures by Brittney LLC, I also work a full time job as a Supervisor/ Provider Relations Coordinator, and a Minister/ Founder of an organization called Sister Friends Association. Soon I’ll be transitioning into a FULL time entrepreneur… from being an employee to EMPLOYER!

Starting my business a few years ago and staying in business was not easy, especially without a mentor and money to invest. It wasn’t until last year when I received a revelation (course correction from God) and it was that very moment I surrendered my business over to Christ and walked away until I was able to truly hear ALL of what God wanted to minister to me. I didn’t walk away from my business voluntarily. Last summer I had 6 paid events cancel in a row. Those clients were forced to cancel their events due to unforeseen circumstances out of their control. However, I soon realized it was God shutting those events down to get my undivided attention. I’m so grateful for God’s interruption. There was Glory on the other side! After that encounter and surrendering, God began to flood my DMs with more clients than I could even keep up with! Also, God immediately placed the right people and resources in my life to help me reach new heights in my business and non-profit organization. What sets my business apart is that it truly came from God. Literally, God gave it back to me! The passion, integrity, and anointing that I possess is what I pour into every event. I don’t take any client, event, sale, prayer call, etc for granted. It’s more than an event, consultation, or item sold… it’s an EXPERIENCE, an opportunity for me to speak God’s Word to His children verbally and/or through beautiful decor!

Remember, God is only as close to you as YOU will allow Him. Yes, that includes your business and career.

God will not bless your business until you’re about His business first.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d recommend going to Board & Brush to enjoy designing and painting wooden boards that make great home interior decor. Dine in at restaurant Local Cue for their amazing brisket quesadillas and Halls Chophouse for their amazing collard greens and lamb chops! And definitely go shopping and get facials too. Shop St’Claire Beauty for your skincare, hair care, and facial services!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My encouragers are my beautiful parents Melissa and Geno, brother Carlos, Pastor Sawyer, Pastor Dharius Daniels, and Bishop TD Jakes. I greatly appreciate and value their spiritual advice, prayers, encouragement, support, and influence. I’d also like to thank my entire family, friends, and repeat clients for all their continued support in the success of Eventures by Brittney. Melissa Anderson, Lakesha Canada, Almesha Bailey, Ja’dynn Manigault, Tunisia Anderson, and soooooo many others I LOVE you all so much and I cannot thank you all enough for believing, investing, and helping me since day one. I’m FOREVER grateful for you all! I’d like to also show gratitude to Author Shelly Miller, her books definitely blessed my life during the pandemic. Last but certainly not least, THANK YOU God for all you’ve done and still doing for me. I’ve profited so much in the spirit this last year, God is so faithful!

Jesus, I can’t thank you enough for your sacrifice!
