We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Weir and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create a business that would allow me to do something I love, share it with others, while valuing what is most important to me in life, time.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Once my daughter started school, I began offering my services to local child care centers. All the photography was taken outdoors, and the sets were designed by me. I wanted to put my own spin on a school portrait by creating interactive sets for children to enjoy, which gave me the opportunity to capture real smiles. I worked with six local schools up until COVID. I also take photos for a local press magazine, which is a lot of fun.

One of the two photos of mine that are displayed in the Cherokee Office of Economic Development was chosen to be on the cover of the Woodstock City brochure in 2018. There were over 20,000 copies of the brochure distributed state-wide. I have also been published in several magazines. I recently took a self-portrait with Michael Myers and it was published in Lensational Magazine in 2021, which was an honor. I love everything Halloween.

I am neurodivergent, so naturally I have had some bumps in the road. I think working in the photography industry and for myself has helped me thrive. If you don’t fit into their box, make your own.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely recommend taking my friend to Atlanta and Cloudland Canyon. A little city and some nature. In Atlanta, we could find an amazing restaurant, shop in Little 5, checkout the beltline, catch a show at Lips, and end the night at the Clermont Lounge. We could go camp for the night at Cloudland and then hike to the waterfall. It is so beautiful there.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I would like to give a shoutout to my mother, Lynn Bova, and partner, Pratt Weir, for helping in every way possible throughout the past 9 years. Without them, it would not have been possible for me to be a stay at home parent while pursing photography. And to my daughter, Amelia, for opening my eyes to a world I would never have seen without her. She is the reason I am behind the lens.
