We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I have always pushed the limits when it comes to my life and career path. I just had this gut feeling there was something really great out there for me and I have always been determined to find it. When I was younger I knew very quickly that climbing the corporate ladder was not for me, but I did not know what exactly my path was. I have always done things unconventional and knew the outcome of the life and work/life balance that I was looking for. Now, I can finally say I have achieved that whole heartedly with creating my business and working for myself.
I am so thankful for what has occurred prior to this to put me in the position I am in now. I think risk is important in any aspect of your life, it is scary but exhilarating, and it allows you to create and mold your path or career exactly how you want it. Hard work does pay off and the emotional roller coaster that can come with it, but it is so worth it!
What should our readers know about your business?
I got my real estate license in 2018 and started out as a buyer’s agent working with clients. I also started handling the transaction side of the contract, once the agent goes under contract with their client, a transaction coordinator steps in and handles the file until it closes (think project manager). One thing lead to another and I started working with a company who did transaction coordinator work on a larger scale.
After about 4 years, I left to start working for myself. The transition was unexpected and not easy, but over the years I have created extremely strong relationships with the real estate agents I worked with on a daily basis. In return this made the process easier as I ventured off on my own, the success I have experienced in less than a year is a blessing.
Working for yourself is such an emotional roller coaster that I am still trying to navigate on a daily basis. My brand and my reputation are extremely important to me, the real estate world is small. I truly appreciate all of the realtors who I currently work with, that trust me with their business and their clients and all of the agents that I have not met yet but hope to partner with this coming year as I head into the second year of business.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have been in Atlanta for ten years now and I still draw blanks on places I would go!
I would absolutely start the trip off at MF Sushi, I think it is one of the best places for Sushi in Atlanta.
A coffee spot I love is Le bon Nosh, they have such great coffee choices as well as food and you can not beat how cute it is!
Stone Mountain is one of my favorite places to get an outdoor workout in, I go probably once or twice a week. I think anyone who visits Atlanta should go at least once.
Other restaurants like Grana, The Big Ketch and Bar Blanc would also be on the list. Even a hole in the wall taco spot.
The beltline would also make the itinerary!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am not sure that I can credit just one person. There are a lot of people over the past couple of years that I would not be where I am without them.
Cliche but, my parents have always been my biggest supporters, safety net, cheerleaders and shoulders to cry on. Without them I couldn’t even imagine where I would be.
In terms of the real estate world, my friend Jaycie Mirabella has been my rock. When I initially got my license I started working with her and she taught me so much, she also gave me the platform and encouragement to start doing the transaction coordinator work that eventually evolved into my own business.
There are a couple other major events and turning points over the last couple of years that catapulted me to where I am now, Although, not always positive outcomes, I am very thankful for where they lead me.
