We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Elizabeth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany Elizabeth, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When I was younger I was very into the “hustle” work mentality that I let work play a higher priority than my personal life. Which meant I missed out on family and friend life events. As I get older I started to realize that work isn’t everything. You can still have that drive and not miss out on important life events. I started to appreciate my personal relationships more and that showing up means 10x more than sending a gift. Just being present is priceless. So now, I try to have a balance between grinding in my career and showing up for people who I care about. It’s possible to have both.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel like my story’s a little different from others. I grew up in the Bay Area wanting to get into a creative career, whether it’d be styling or consulting. There wasn’t a lot of opportunities like that for me up there. So when I decided to move to LA it was for a corporate footwear company. Within my years there I was able to develop my skills in Retail Marketing and Styling. Working my up in a male dominate company was very difficult. I had to work harder than my male counter parts and had to prove myself to upper management. I was developing my career in marketing but I also was able to style which has always been my passion. I had to prove myself that I could style big campaign shoots and I was successful at it. Working at that job allowed me to meet various people within the sneaker community that I would work with. Now these people contact me for styling shoots, consulting, and production projects. With still having my 9-5 job as a Retail Marketing Manager.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In the beginning of the week I would take them to all of the touristy things because why not and not much is happening in LA at the start of the week. LACMA, Griffith, Runyon Canyon (for a little fitness moment). I would take them to Kazunori because who doesn’t like handrolls. Must eat at Bestia, Teddy’s Red Tacos, Sun Long Dan, and Daybird. Toward the mid-end of the week take them to KTown and experience the night life there. Probably to Quarters or Ahgassi Gobchang for KBBQ. Then head over to ToeBang for drinks and end the night at a Karaoke spot with friends to drink some more. Then the weekend do quick rooftop bar hop in downtown at the Brokem Shaker, The Ace, The Wayfarer. Sunday a brunch moment at Perch.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would want to dedicate this shoutout to my friends from the Bay and LA. For constantly being there for me and being my number 1 supporters through my entire career. They’ve been my cheerleaders since the beginning and have never left my side. Another person specifically would be Lucy Crivelli, without her I wouldn’t have been connected to Shoutout Atlanta. She’s always been a person to motivate me to go into my passions and push me to take on projects that will elevate me into my creative career. Lastly, I would dedicate this to my dad who passed away about 10 years ago. Without him I wouldn’t be where I am today. He molded me into the resilient person I am today. I learned a lot about being tough in life and never letting obstacles get in the way of what you want in life. That you deserve and can achieve all of the good things life has to offer.
