We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Butler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My balance has changed so much overtime. I have learned how to manage my time in so many ways. I’m a full-time mother that works third shift as a CNA & I’m currently in my last year of school for mortuary science. The main thing that has helped me stay focused is writing things down in my planner & constantly staying consistent. When I think about the balance it sounds overwhelming in my mind but once I give myself time and space, I always execute my work!

I truly feel like what set me apart from others is I actually care! When I create a custom piece I actually put myself in the other person shoes! What I mean by that? If I’m creating a custom outfit for someone child I will listen to specific details about this custom piece and make it the most detailed because I know how my child would react seeing their favorite character or whatever instructions was to put onto the garment. Professionally being able to communicate and be honest with everything. No, it wasn’t easy at all. I overcome these challenges by understanding overtime that you will deal with all type of people and everyone is different. No matter the situation I always remain humble & respectful. I use to think “the customer is always right “ is a little bit crazy. However, when I got my own business it’s true. I much rather correct any dilemma there is & know in my heart even if I upset someone I corrected whatever issue there was. I have learned so many valuable lessons during this journey. I have learned to stand my ground and be firm on what I say. I had to understand that even in the weakest times to know that the sky is the limit. Set small goals & deadlines for myself in order to be successful. Also if you focus on good, the good gets better! I want the world to know that I put so much work into my craft and that if you purchase a customized piece from me it’s straight from the heart. If anyone is looking to start a business don’t give up.! It may look rough starting out but trust me it will get better overtime. Wake up everyday and be grateful that you was given a talent & be consistent you never know who’s watching.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I come from a small city in Michigan. It’s not as many spots to hang out in to be completely honest with you. However when it comes to some good food my bestfriend & I have fell in love with Japanese food lately.. Hokkaido Japanese steak & Sushi have became our favorite. The experience from them cooking the food in front of you to the drinks are amazing!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I first began customizing I was working third shift as a customer service representative for roadside service. My customizing/ creating started off as a hobby when I needed something to keep me awake. The first customized denim jacket was created for a co-worker named Danielle Fortenberry. I also would like to include Crystal Tolfree that helped motivate me & continue to push me for success. Everyday they let me know the sky is the limit and that I have the potential to do whatever it is I put my mind to. I had no idea that it would turn into a business. My creativity and ideas has expanded so much since I have continued to create wearable art for others. I would also like to thank my only sibling (Troy jr) & Bestfriend (Tea) that support me 100% and always pushing me to go harder. I’m grateful for all the support I’ve been giving wether it’s sharing my work, telling a friend or giving me the hardest criticism. With all the love and support I will continue to give nothing but the best wearable art to everyone that makes them HAPPY!
