We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Briscoe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When going through the thought process of wanting to start a business I knew that I wanted to do something for women that would make an impact but also something that may not be as popular. Lingerie popped in my head, most of my adult life I was overweight and I know how hard it is to find your size in a store or if you find your size, making sure it’s cute, and sexy. Not only did I want it to be appealing, I wanted to make sure it was affordable. My goal is to make every woman feel beautiful and comfortable in her own skin. There’s so much body shaming going on in society when all we really need to do is mind our own business and embrace each other. I’m all for women empowerment and body positivity. Currently my lingerie ranges from sizes Small to 5XL with plans of expanding in the future.

What should our readers know about your business?
2 be Adored, is a lingerie and loungewear line that promotes body positivity and women empowerment. We pride ourselves on offering products that are for more than just two body types. I pride myself on being able to offer woman a variety of items as well as sizes. I also pride myself on the customer service, we are prompt when communicating with customers and also ensure our customers know if there is something specific you’re looking for send me a picture or description or let me know what the event is and most times I am able to find the item and get it to them in a reasonable time frame.

It’s not always been easy and sometimes I still struggle because not only do I run a business I work full time. Making sure I take that break in between getting off work and working on my business. Going outside or doing household things help clear my mind before I pick things back up. I’ve put together a calendar so that I’m not doing the same things everyday. There are overwhelming days, and then there are rewarding days but for both I thank God for because I refuse to give up. I pray over myself and my business, I’m thankful for those I can trust and talk to about these things but my customers keep me going. No matter how big or small the sale is, the interactions on social media it keeps me going because someone is always watching and rooting for you so giving up just isn’t an option. Patience has been key, not ever month or even day will be the same, but you just can’t give up on yourself and the things you want. I’ve learned to not pay attention to what other’s say, the doubters or naysayers if it’s something you want you’ll stop at nothing and I cannot and will not be stopped.

I would like the world to get used to seeing the name 2 be Adored, we may be small now but eventually we will be known world-wide. I’m just a woman with a dream and goal of having a successful business that will help empower others and eventually be able to branch out and grow into something so much bigger. So never forget the name!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting me here in Kentucky, there isn’t too much but we would do brunch at Carson’s, I would get the Prime Sirloin Steak and Eggs it comes with potatoes and seasonal fruit. Kentucky is known for Hot Brown’s which is ham and chicken, with different cheeses, tomatoes and eggs on top. There are so many options. There’s a new spot Lex Live we can go to they have bowling, arcade, movies, and bars. Do a little shopping before we rest and hit a few bars that evening downtown. If it’s the month of May we are known for Derby so I would definitely take a first timer there for the experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Kiah Arnold, I’ve known her since high school and she has been such an inspiration. She’s become an amazing mom, business owner, innovator, and creator. She’s a serial entrepreneur and I admire her. I can go to her about anything. She’s always been so supportive and helped put me in contact with amazing people. Of course my family, friends and most importantly my sisters are my #1 supporters. I know people always say your customers are never in your circle but I personally can say everyone that’s important to me has always and still does support me without ever asking for handouts or discounts. I love these people, they keep me going. Also, my unborn child just makes this so much greater something I will be able to leave behind and show her if it’s something you want, don’t ever stop until you get it.
