We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittanie Muahammad and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittanie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly, doesn’t everyone dream to be their own boss? I guess for me it’s always been the end goal. The last couple of years have been truly eye opening and was the push I needed to go all in on my business. Even though you end up working 24/7 when you own your own company, having the freedom of doing whatever you want when you want, pays off!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Anyone in the creative industry knows that the first thing you overcome is not feeling like your craft is worth anyones investment. I grew up in a super small town and never thought I could do hair and makeup for a living. It was when I moved to GA that my eyes were finally open to all of the potential. I’ve been in the beauty industry for 11 years and there hasn’t been one year thats past where I’ve said… “That was an easy year!” Even when you have an established clientele, you will still have potential clients question your worth. One thing that I’ve learned to understand is that you will never make everyone happy. You have to stay true to yourself and all of the right people will come along.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ooo. There are so many amazing spots in and surrounding the city of Atlanta! One of our favorite breakfast spots is Rushing Trading Co. in Sugar Hill, GA! Such a vibey, quaint spot in the downtown area.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am truly thankful for my husband. He is the reason I took the leap. Without him and his support, I wouldn’t have the successful business that I have. I am also very thankful for all of the amazing creatives I have met along the way. Being able to collaborate with them has been a dream!
