We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittani Gray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittani, how do you think about risk?
Risk-taking can ignite a fire in you to launch something you didn’t even know was possible. I had an idea to donate pads to a couple of schools from a cash app . People kept asking me, “why are you doing this?” I really could not answer; I followed my gut. From cash app to a 501C3, I went from donating to one school to 65 schools locally and over 100 nationally.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve had a transitional career since college. I was an Intervention Specialist for 9-12 students, Then I became a hairstylist back in 2014. It was a childhood dream that I am still currently living. I am a freelancing hairstylist for commercials and print. I designed my brand Hairkitchen LLC to create a positive hair journey for clients in need of hair restoration. And in 2019 I created my 501c3, Girls Health Period, to enrich the lives of menstruator in education, sports, and career by providing sports bras, underwear, menstrual products, and education. These three careers may seem as though they don’t work together, but all three careers work with people with different learning styles, demonstrates how the world may view them, and becoming a resource. Following your instinct will create your own unique journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you are visiting Cincinnati, you will have to first come through Kentucky and enter from the Brent Spence Bridge to see Cincinnati’s majestic Queen City view of our downtown. Then Coffee! You need coffee from either Black Coffee (the OoWEE is my fav or Cream and Sugar Coffehouse (honey lavender latte, thank me later). Breakfast starts at Sugar and Spice, and make sure you leave with a rubber ducky. Check out Washington Park, every day you can catch an exercise class, food truck alley, concerts, and more. Since I love a good wellness shop, head over to Pause on Short vine. They have candles, crystals, art, gifts, and juice. For lunch, I go for a Mexican delight at Mazunte, their chorizo tacos are fantastic. Or I may head down to Findley market to hit up Pho Lang Thang for the best pho in town. For Dessert, check out Sugar 513 for the “butterest” cookies and treats ever. for Head to Fountain Square for Salsa or Reggae Night from artists across the city. For a late-night snack.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My grandfather Rev. Sherwin Q Ealy I, was a pastor and well-known community leader. I saw that man give money out of his own pocket to people in need. He drove the school bus for the students with exceptionalities and sang them gospel songs to see them smile. He would be most proud of me for working in the communities I grew up in.
